Is on the Clippers best interest to tank for the 6th seed?
Is it?
I think it is.
Why would you want to have your hands full against two of the best scorers in the league in KD and Booker? Add CP, Ayton and a good coach.
I believe thats something you want to avoid in first round matchup, let the Warriors and Suns destroy the hell out of each other.
By getting the 6th seed we get to avoid Denver in the second round. Again another tough team that the Clippers struggle the most with.
Because of the bubble Murray and Porter have extreme confidence against us and light the Clippers up everytime. Gordon and Porter made Kawhi and George earn every single point and they have Jokic too smh.
Still enough games to play and anything can happen, Grizzles can get the 1th seed or Kings move to #2 but I still believe Nuggets will keep #1.
All in all I think the Clippers best interest is to play the Kings in the first round.

You want to be the best, then you should have no fear beating the best. Suns don't scare me in a 7 game series. We make it through those 2 and I don't care who is left. We don't need to avoid anyone.

The risk of tanking for 6th and ending in the play-in is way too great to think of such a move.
This isn't the SamCat Clips, where tanking to 6th and hosting the third seeded Nuggets was better than getting 5th and playing a tougher and better Memphis side. A lot more risk here.

Re: Is on the Clippers best interest to tank for the 6th seed?
This team isn't tanking intentionally. It's just poorly coached. We are where we are because we have yet another stubborn coach who plays favorites, doesn't develop anyone, and doesn't have a system.
The front office also shares the blame because they traded our entire future away for an old slow team in a young fast league, because they mailed in the coaching search post-Doc, and let Atkinson get away to a division rival.
Let me put it this way: if we are tanking, everyone needs to be fired even more since we're tanking our way into the play-in. And we could very easily lose a series to the Kings anyway, so the ultimate reward wouldn't even be worth the risk.

I think they just need to win 2 more games to secure the 6. Hopefully Portland is a win and maybe Phoenix has nothing to play for the final game as they will likely have to 4 locked up

Usually, Phoenix might...but with the trade and injuries, they may seem to be more interested in building some chemistry.

Forget About The Play-In, Think About The Lottery
With the Clippers losing to the Pelicans for a season series sweep, what are the odds the tank could blow right in front of their face.
Consider the Thunder, who are 38-40. If they win three games and lose exactly once, they can get the .500 mark. Clippers can no longer go under .500 due to 41 wins, but they can still tie by losing every single game. And if they hit .500, we have a problem.
Because Clippers lost the season series to the Thunder, OKC owns the tiebreaker; they get the lead. Suppose both Clippers and Thunder are tied at the 10th seed... yeah.
Clippers are still in danger of missing the playoffs.

Then, consider, we have the option to swap our pick (which would be OKCs in this scenario) for the Bucks, which is #30.

Borderline? It is trash. And the coaching is even worse.

If Paul George doesn't come back 100% healthy and ready to go for the playoffs then what does it even matter? Even then, with all the issues this team has had this season it doesn't look good for a deep playoff run let alone a title.

It's not a team. It's a collection of contracts. It starts with the two stars missing games by the bucketful and little to no leadership when they do play--even when they do play well, it's not contagious.
We have 3 new rotation players [Russ, Gordon, Plumlee and 4 if you count Hyland],
3rd option Powell bleeding points like a stuck pig at the other end [minus-11 per 100 since the break],
a huge hole at the 4 [Batum/RoCo are playing no better than Marcus],
and 2 nice young journeymen in Zu and Mann, who can give you some quality minutes but can't really move the needle. Every time you put a 5 on the floor, they barely know each other's names, let alone know how to play together.

It speaks volumes that people are clamoring for the sixth seed. The sixth seed! Last I checked, sixth seeds don't win championships. This season is already toast if we're being honest with ourselves.

One 6th seed did win a title; happened in 1995. Just because Rockets did it before doesn't mean nobody else is allowed to copy it.
And besides, I could see Clippers drop all the way to the 10th seed. Originally they could have missed the playoffs altogether, but NBA has officially given them the green light to clinch the qualifier. All it will do is make Clippers work harder. And with new CBA to take hold next season, where the only way they can regain right to trade utility assets (draft picks, cash considerations) would be by blowing the team up and going into a rebuild, it would be in their best interest to do actually compete and not take competition for granted.

Re: Is on the Clippers best interest to tank for the 6th seed?
We're not a great team, but we're not trash either, we're 41-38.
I mean look at our roster, it is what it is. A better coach could get us a few more wins, so would better help, better players, etc. Winding back the clock 2 years would actually have been the easiest surefire way to improve the team.
We just had higher expectations that didn't turn out for a variety of reasons. We needed a disgruntled out-of-favor buyout to start at point guard for us to inject some juice into the team, when that is the case you're just not that great of a team to begin with.
In any case it's impossible to tank for any seed, we could probably lose the next 3 and end up 6th, or win all 3 and end up 6th. Getting 2 out of 3 is certainly feasible, Portland is done and Phoenix won't be playing for anything. Laker game is going to be tough as they are fighting just like us, but is obviously the most important game we have left.

Turn it back 2 years and these same complaints about the Clippers were happening. There was a guy on here that was relentless in his hatred for Paul George. Let's let the playoffs determine where this team is at and not the regular season. Hoping PG is ready to go for the 1st round series.
Tomorrow is week 2, the Play-in will be week 3. Playoffs will be week 4 after the injury. Clips going to get lots of practice time between now and Saturday. A luxury going into the weekend.
Clips and Sac only teams in the Western Conference with 20 or more road wins

Honestly I don't think our team culture is very good either. You have Kawhi and PG taking games off whenever and Ty Lue and the front office butting heads. Has to be frustrating

Clipper fans, worry not. Morris is out of health and safety protocol. We're going 3 and 0.

LAST 3 GAMES WITH MARCUS OUT:
Batum: 22 mpg, 2.0 ppg--18.2% FG/11.1% 3-pt--minus-2.1 per 100
Covington: 23 mpg, 11 ppg--6.2 fouls, minus-6.2 per 100
T-Mann: 26 mpg, 7.3 ppg, 31.9% FG, minus-7.8 per 100
DISHONORABLE MENTION: Mason Plumlee, -25.9 per 100 possessions

The only conceivable answer is that Marcus Morris sucks but is a good luck charm on the floor.
