After the obliteration we gave them I don't blame them.

We lost to a bad team. It happens to everybody. All good teams lose to bad teams sometimes.
We have the 2nd fewest losses in the league (fewest in the east) to teams under .500.
And if we don't get the 1 seed, it's not that big of a deal. The 1 seed hasn't won the east since 2017. The Bucks were the 1 seed in 2019 and 2020 and didn't make the nba finals either time. We just destroyed the bucks in milwaukee 2 nights ago and beat them easily in milwaukee last yr in game 6. I'm not scared of them, even if the bucks have home court. It's like some of ya'll act like having home court means you get home court in every game of the series. We could beat the Bucks in 6 games - we'd have 3 of those games in Boston and 3 of them would be in Milwaukee. That's not home court advantage if both teams had the same amount of home games, it it?
Not to mention, Cleveland has a better overall net rating than milwaukee and a better net rating in games vs top 10 teams than milwaukee so i wouldn't be surprised if cleveland beats milwaukee in the 2nd round - which would mean we'd have home court in the ECF..
Still bothered.
But I have moved on.
I will even say this:
1 seed or 2 seed, if JT plays like he has of late, Bobby the DIFFERENCE MAKER stays healthy, Malcolm & Derrick continue to be invaluable, #7 limits himself to what he does best & elitely, Marcus limits himself to distributing & D the vast majority of the time, Al continues to mostly defy his age & shoot the lights out, we move the ball with a minimum of TOV, we play D & gang rebound most of the time, & we close out games more intelligently, no one is beating us in a 7 game series.
When the shots are falling nobody can beat the Celtics. However, they have rarely shown the ability to will a victory (like they could last year) with second chance points, tough interior baskets, hunting the weak link or with stifling defense when the 3 is not falling.
They need to get on a roll and Tatum has to have no slumps.

All true.
Wish we had another high quality big.
Wish we had Truth.
PS For one of the first times, I aw a look in Jayson’s eyes like the look Paul used to get when it was **** money time. Can you imagine JT with his truly overwhelming natural talent with some over the top fierceness built into his persona? Also the look Paul used to get before he outplayed or played even Kobe, TMac, Vince & Bron on many many occasions. Paul never would have let Steph & his boys intimidate him.

I think 30 yo 2008 Pierce would have battled harder but then again I honestly doubt if 24 yo Pierce would have got past Giannis.
24 yo Pierce played in 16 playoff games. Tatum has already played in 75 by age 24. Pierce was 27 when he did a press conference with a bandage around his face. Tatum is already so much more mature than that.
We both recognized that young Pierce was an elite player who was underrated locally and nationally because the team was such a dumpster fire during his first 5 years.

Valid points all - but I believe Paul entered the NBA with more Kobe-like fire in his belly than Jayson.
Dumpster fire during his first NINE years - not 5. A **** travesty.
I think we agree that had Truth the Young been given KG when Kobe the Young had been given Shaq, there would have been even more Celtics-Fakers Finals & we would have won some. Also, Paul would have been much more acclaimed as a young stud both locally & nationally - as opposed to arguably being one of the most underrated Super Stars of his generation for many years.

1. Tatum has definitely benefitted from Ainge/Stevens and getting to play with a great veteran like Horford so early in his career. If Paul had had that kind of stability early in his career, he would have had a different career arc for sure.
2.,That said, how good would Tatum be if he had a KG instead of Time-off lord backing him up?

1. ABSOLUTELY! Paul had Toine for awhile. LOL.
2. Tatum & KG perhaps more titles than young Paul & KG.
Aside from my personal feelings regarding #7, sticking to hoops, that is why I strongly feel that #7 + whatever else is required (including Marcus) for a maximum quality Big this summer - no matter how this season ends.
PS I know you probably do not agree having read your dialogues with Comedian.

1. If Brown truly is a bad guy for the reason you think, I’d want him out of here too. I just think he mis-stepped and is a better person than that. I don’t really know as I’ve never met him in person.
2. I think Tatum/Brown/Smart/Rob/White with Horford gracefully aging out in 2-3 is a nucleus that can contend for 4-5 more years if intact and healthy. The playoff experience they have and will have is an advantage that will grow with time. I’m open to trading Brown or anybody for a better player (who isn’t old and always injured like Durant) if it made us better, but I’d find it more enjoyable to see this team stay together and get it done.

Would like Hauser and Mascala to get minutes and shooting comfort.

doesn't the play-in tournament add like 5 'rest days' for the rest of the playoff teams? I'd like to see this team stay in a rhythm down the stretch vs. throttling down significantly and then having to try to crank it up again. I'm sure there'll be a natural throttling down in terms of effort/energy, but I'd mostly keep the current rotation rolling because they've gotten into a groove at long last.
