Wooga Poplar

Post#1 » by Hal14 » Mon Mar 27, 2023 1:44 pm

Sleeper alert!

6'5" wing but if you watch him play, he plays bigger than 6'5" cause he clearly has a good wingspan (it's gotta be at least 6'10") and a crazy vertical (gotta be pushing 40").

Plays with really good quickness and bounce, too.

Shooting 39% from 3.

Good play making too:

He's young, too - just turned 20. And is a late bloomer, didn't play organized basketball till his sophomore year of HS - then had already scored 1,000 points before his junior season was over.

I'll admit was not on my radar until this weekend, but he seems interesting enough to look into.

One of the things i immediately like is the lack of neck. All else being equal between two 6'5" dudes, I'll take the no neck dude all day.

I like him as a guard. His arms are a little too short for the forward spot in the NBA. he doesn't contest shots well when he's playing up size

Funny, this definitely seems to be reflected in his Synergy spot-up defense being in the 6th %-ile.

His WS actually looks pretty big.

From the little I've seen him in MM I don't see how you consider him before 35+.
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

rough game in the final 4 for Wooga. Coach wouldn't even put him out there most of the time. The moment was probably too big for him. Only a sophomore and this was his first season getting meaningful mins in college.

I assume he'll probably return next season. Could definitely be a guy who makes a leap next year and gets drafted n 2024..

RIP Wooga Poplar Mar 23, 2023 - April 1, 2023 He will be remembered for once maybe being a guy with a short neck who could jump high.
