I agree, 99% of uneducated takes are on twitter most likely.

It's Jokic. Least help and close enough to Giannis.

I agree that it should be Jokic.
With that said, why is Gianni's second best player, Middleton, having played only 32 games all season long, averaging 15/4/5 on 43/31/90 is glossed over?

If Embiid's or Jokic's best teammate had played just 30 games, we would have been hearing it constantly all year long, being the reason they are the clear cut favorite over the other two. Instead he has had the most help out of the three somehow.

Anyway, I feel like Jokic deserves it over the other two this year. More games played, amazing stats and efficiency while having the 3rd best record in the league. He has been the regular season MVP this year even more than he was last year, which I would argue, should have gone to Embiid.

Embiids best teammate sat out 82 games last year and no one gave a damn, they actually defended the guy for sitting out.

He Harden for last part of season and still wasn't the better team down the stretch than the Nuggets missing both of their 2nd and 3rd best best players who ate like 60 million. in cap space. Jokic deserved his award last year.

There is none. Maybe Curry will get a couple 5th place votes.

I actually just want Embiid to win so all the crying from Philly fans and all the race baiters can just shut up already.

Next seasons narrative: “well Giannis and Jokic got two in a row, Embiid deserves two in a row!”

No, the blueprint is to accuse the voters of something (for example, racism), then win a few games against mediocre teams. Those few games are more important than 70+ games before and after them.

Personally, if i see a quote, i expect it to be of reputable source (journalists, nba professional, statistician or something like that). So quoting random fans confuses me since random fans will be super biased and i start reading those quotes with premise that there was a lot of logic put into the thought. And biased fans are not known for that.

Clearly me issue since this is just my expectation lol

I agree wholeheartedly. But the post makes a point that we clearly see. Moving of the goal posts and unfair expectations for Embiid which is not applied to other candidates.

Also most of the stuff here, quote or not is parroted all over the internet. Especially with the MVP debate none of the stuff here is some profound original concept.

What goal posts are moving and what are those unfair expectations for Embiid?

By listening to Embiid fans, one could think that there was a season when he played 70+ games, all without his 2nd best player, finished in the 1st seed, won the scoring title and All-Defense team spot, all that happened in the same season and he still didn't win the MVP.

Jokic, Embiid and Giannis would be RIGHT there (Giannis might not get there and Embiid is still short a game).

If all those guys were disqualified, who would the MVP be?

The dangers of trying to fix a non-problem.
MVP isn't much of an issue, but All NBA teams will be

It’s either Jokic or Giannis. Embiid does not belong amongst those two, even though he’s been fantastic.

I'm totally fine with Giannis wining it.

Embiid should be out of the race.

What's so surprising in losing votes after those two games when his only argument was matchups?

Embiid's case is weak. Those wins against direct rivals were the only thing going in his favor. Now that he shamelessly ducked one rematch and played terrible in the other one, he's left with nothing other than sympathy.

Who is moving goalposts against Embiid again? It feels like a BS narrative that keeps being repeated

This one win streak Philly had in the whole 82 game season overlooks everything else for him now?

You’d think he HAS to be slipping by now, wouldn’t you?

• 3-5 record in the last 8
• Ducked the showdown with Jokić
• Got dominated head to head by Giannis
• 4 straight games under 30 points
• 3 straight games with a game score under 20
• Has made 4 of his last 25 3-pointers

For a guy whose whole case seemed to be recency of what he’d done in the last 2 or 3 weeks 2 or 3 weeks ago, he’s been on a hell of a bad stretch. What’s it gonna take for him to slip? It’s gonna be an absolute travesty if he wins MVP.

The stupid part is that it's going to happen too. I'm honestly struggling to think of a bigger pity MVP award in the NBA than Embiid getting it this year.
