You don't want to be on the other end guarding him. He'll show you what 27 PPG looks like.
Trading for Kyrie is a very scary proposition for the playoffs. You see the future.
Kyrie is a good guy and he lets 27 scored on both ends for equality. To acquire him, you trade main rotation players. Losing DFS is conceding more points too. Overall a minus for the team.
All-time great trade to tank the defense and rebounding.
Irving literally quit on the Nets in the playoffs last season.

What data suggests that Kyrie can perform at a high level in playoffs? When did he win games for your team last time? Should we ask that question to Boston fans?
Kyrie with all those injuries is no longer that guy.
I mean he can play with Lebron-AD and bunch of solid rotation players to take some tough shots in 4th. Otherwise he doesn't worth it for supermax money.

You're better off asking Boston fans. In four years, Kyrie bailed on the Nets in the playoffs in the bubble, got injured against the Bucks in the 2nd round, quit in the playoffs vs Boston once Udoka heavily double teamed Durant, and now, well, I'm sure the Mavericks are up next.

He is going to test free agency. The list of teams with near max money is short though. I don’t see Kyrie going to Houston, Utah, Indiana, or San Antonio. So if he does leave it will more than likely have to be in a sign and trade. The Lakers can make room by releasing all of their cap holds but I don’t think they want to do that. So worst case scenario the Mavs should be able to get some compensation for Kyrie.
More than likely what happens is he signs the max extension with the Mavs and then forces a trade later.

Kyrie was never going to sign an extension with the Mavs.
The plan was always to re-sign him.
4 Year FA w/ Bird Rights >>> 2 Year Extension

Agree.
If Irving wants to leave the Mavs no problem, he needs a S&T scenario and then the Mavs has the power (ok Cuban is dumb

It would be a disaster if Kyrie walks and Mavs get nothing.
They can't let that happen two years in a row.
Even though Luka and Kyrie together has not worked yet.

I wouldn't mind if he just walks. Would give Mavs a lot of cap to work with. I don't trust them to navigate the minefield with limited cap options.

This is interesting. I’m of the belief that the Mavs are NOT going to fire Kidd. However if they did this wouldn’t be the worst decision.

This guy can spank Luka for sure if he's still playing video games past his bedtime.
Gotta run it by Kyrie though. That is a different type of crazy if he doesnt like his coach.

It would mean that Mavs would have sacrificed their three most important assets (DoeDoe, expiring Spencer and the unprotected '29 first) only for cap space. Terrible asset management, but ehi like a rapper used to say: "this is how we do, we make a move and act a fool while we up in the club" xD

The last time Doncic and Laso were together, Real Madrid won EuroBasket 2018 before Doncic flew to the U.S. to get drafted.
Damn, Luka won Eurobasket in 2 consecutive years

Defense wins draft lotteries!

Indeed but look at Kyrie. Do you really want to lock him for 4 years and hope for him to be on his best behaviour? You've seen what he did in Boston, he promised them gold, same with the Nets and Cavs. At first it was a fairytale then quickly turned into a nightmare. It's a pattern that keeps repeating. Do we really trust him enough to believe he just suddenly changed? He's after the money, he's at his best behaviour right now but he can easily just go back to missing games for weird reasons and just become a distraction.
So, do Mavs risk it? Or rather heavily invest into proper bigs (Centers/wings) and finally make this team more well rounded. We've seen what a motivated Luka looks like, just give him a center and someone that can score. But i don't want to watch Kyrie/Luka/Bullock and freaking Powell for the next 4 years again.

This is a full on born and raised EU coach

But if this was actually true and Laso could somehow coach the Mavs, i would fly to Dallas just to see this guy on the sidelines. I'm a huge fan of him

If the Lakers don't perform to their expectations in the playoffs, they may want to try to sign Kyrie.
It would mean renouncing a couple of role players but they may trade some of the depth they got in the trades for a big scorer like Kyrie.

They would have to renounce the rights to DLo, Hachimura, and Beasley, and would likely have to dump Vanderbilt. I’m not sure they want to do that for Kyrie.

So Cuban claims he never had a chance to extend Jalen Brunson.
Brunson's father was always going to have his son sign with the Knicks.
Sounds like a way to throw off blame.
Why not admit that the org undervalued Jalen?
Or just say Jalen has blown past all expectations and evaluations, props to him for the hard work to make himself an all-star or all NBA level player this year.

Honestly I’m sick of hearing about Brunson all together. He’s gone and it’s time to move on. Did Cuban **** up? Yes, is crying about it going to change anything? No.

Anyway it's 50-50 Cuban-Jalen (Who isn't the good guy everyone thinks).

The best opportunity the Mavs had to sign Brunson was after Brunson crapped his pants in the playoff series vs. the Clippers. By the time it was clear that he was worth the extension, it was too late.
