No brainer for Gute

Do yourself a favor and scroll thru picks 1-18 of last years draft with no QB's taken to really appreciate what may drop in our lap.

I was just thinking about this, the Packers don't typically draft this high and when you factor in 4 QBs likely going before 15 that equals a really good player falling to 15. We are looking at a quality of player at a premium position that I'm just not used to scouting for GB

I don't think we will go pass catcher in the first, even though I wouldn't be upset with JSN or Kincaid.

I think it will likely be an edge rusher - Murphy/Van Ness/Smith in that order. I could see an OT, but I think that position is really deep in the second round.

Man I hope we get both Jets 2nds. Don't think it's happening though.

We need to draft a TE or 2. I wouldn't do it at 15, but I would with a 2nd rounder or if we move back to the late 1st.

Of the 4 conference championship teams, 3 had TEs in the top 7 for receiving yards.

I'm leaning this way too, really hard time taking one at 15 based on everything, but they need to get one by pick 45. I would take 42 and 43 from the Jets over one 2023 2nd an a 2024 2nd that can become a first, but that's me. I would love to have four picks in the top 45.

Not sure I would ever hitch my wagon to that metric.
Championship teams have a great front 7, which leads to being great against the run and pass, which leads to a Top 10 defense. That's the metric I hitch my wagon to. But that's not exciting enough for fans to hear or add to their xbox.

Yes, TEs aren't as big of a priority which is why I said I wouldn't use a pick as high 15 on one.

It would be nice to get DT:

Jalen Carter, Kancey, or Bresee. I also like Kobie Turner as a sleeper.

You can never have enough talent in the trenches.

One to have a guy next to Clark and two so that either Wyatt or this draft pick can replace Clark. When Clark's contract is up someone is going to sign him to 100+ mil and we won't be able to afford that....nor do I want to give a 30 year old DT 100mil contract.

If they are confident that Wyatt can replace Clark in a year or two then go after Tyree Wilson or Myles Murphy.....(and I still would take Jalen Carter).

For the 1st time I'm coming up with my own Packer specific top 100. I'm through roughly 90 guys but still have a decent amount to go. Excited to see how it turns out and how the Packers draft relative to how I think they should draft.

Yep, the line of scrimmage is where the game is won.

Now that we're going to a real MLF offense a blocking TE that can occasionally get downfield is what I think we're targeting. This points to Washington, who we've had a visit with. No way I take him at 15 though. A trade down to 30 and pickup another second would be great, imo.

Fell in love with the dude when he was a junior playing UCLA one night on Pac 12 After Dark football. You can see every play of his on Youtube from that game but it doesn't convey just how much he got completely wrecked by UCLA's blitzing all night. Still managed to pass for over 400 yards and scrambled for a bunch when most dudes wouldn't be able to stand. This season he improved his efficiency and looked to have a solid combine.

He's not a franchise type QB but I think he'll have a long NFL career. He'd be Love's Brunell.

Heh. From the newly released draft guide in The Athletic:

resilient, fearless competitor (see: 2021 UCLA tape) and his toughness sets the standard in the program (NFL scout: “His guys gladly go to war with him because he puts his ass on the line every play.”) ...

If the Packers take a QB I really hope it's him.
