Stahp.
Chuma does a lot of things at a high enough level to succeed in the NBA. Unfortunately shooting just isn't one of them

Tonight was basically Okeke's whole NBA career in a nutshell.
6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, pretty good defense all night.
1-8 from 3PT.

David just described MCW as a 31-year-old locker room player

WCJ, Franz, Paolo, Gary, Suggs, Fultz, and Cole need to sit on Sunday.
Should be the last tank game for a VERY long time

He is not. Trust me. Admiral does not have one NBA skill whatsoever. He plays hard and is strong. That's it.
Okeke is legitimately solid defender who can pass, cut, get into the passing lanes, etc. He's just been a terrible shooter throughout his NBA career which, along with injuries, has completely submarined him.

we got some work to do shaping this bench in the off-season....we may need a vet or two.....caleb in theory should help provide what we need but he needs more time in the oven, not ready yet.....we got some solid bench pieces just need more pieces that will help fit with paolo and franz

I really liked Okeke earlier in the year before he got injured, especially in the Clippers game we won. He played terrific defense and contributed to winning basketball before we thought winning basketball was possible. I'll be happy if he turns it around, seems he can guard 2-4Knightro wrote:eyriq wrote:Admiral is better than Okeke, though

He's a 6'8" forward that plays good, but not GREAT, defense but on offense can't do anything and is often a low energy guy. He can't dribble much. He isn't a playmaker. And he can't shoot.
Admiral is posting 46/35/91 splits while playing with high energy. You can at least work with that even though everything else is rough.

Meh. Those splits are misleading IMO because he's played so little. In 1200+ career minutes Admiral is .422/.332 which isn't remarkably different from Chuma's .387/.323 in nearly 3400.
Admiral career: 8.5 REB%, 7.5 AST%, 0.7 STL%, 1.0 BLK%, 9.8 TOV%
Chuma career: 9.7 REB%, 10.9 AST%, 2.3 STL%, 2.1 BLK%, 9.2 TOV%
Admiral is a SLIGHTLY better shooter (and Admiral is still a below average one himself so it's not a significant difference) and that's basically it. Chuma is better at literally everything else.

Career numbers don't matter much with younger guys. What do those numbers look like this year? They're both in their 3rd year.

Both these guys aren't projecting as having long careers, it's a moot point other than the fact that WeHam extended Okk...both look to be easily replaceable.Knightro wrote:thelead wrote:He's a 6'8" forward that plays good, but not GREAT, defense but on offense can't do anything and is often a low energy guy. What’s wrong with that? I can totally see MCW as a veteran locker room leader. He doesn’t get enough credit for his impact helping us make the playoffs in the Vuc years. His defense off the bench set a tone for the whole team. Suggs is very much in his mould in that regard.

Okeke is a lot better player than Admiral.
Admiral is just… strong person.

I'm generally weary of gleaning too much from a sample size smaller than 500 minutes, which neither guy has cracked this season.

Yup. Thats why im all for keeping him even as the 11th man on the roster. You need to show our young ones ( which you have to admit we have loads of ) his work ethic and what playing hard does for you. From a ROY to being cut/waive to being givrn another chance with us... locker room leader.

We're actually tied for 6th and splitting the odds with the pacers.

Blazers still play the Clippers and the Warriors - now smart money would say the Blazers get destroyed in both games. And they probably will.
However...
If the Clippers or Warriors want to avoid the Suns in Round 1 and would prefer to play the less playoff experienced Kings, then one of those two teams could opt to try and tank against the Blazers to ensure a matchup with Sacramento instead of Phoenix.
Will be interesting to see if LAC or GSW goes that route or not.
