This is the guy we should be targeting. He pretty much says come get me out of here, MJ is gone in a few. Let's also wait and see what Ingram does, he wasn't happy customer either.

No way you want Trae on this team, he ain't no AI to compensate for the things he is horrid at. That contract is a killer too.

ATL clearing cap to get Brown and another all star along. Most likely outcome is that Brown will say he will want to test FA no matter how Saltic finish the season. He's from that area and his family has enough money. I won't sleep on Miami either. They can make move or two to get in Brown sweepstakes. Those two teams front runners and they know it.

Think Din is bad  wait till you guys get to see FVV play on the regular.

Im all in. Trying to get lamelo feel like his more possible than luka. Maybe someone like Jordan would be high on a cam thomas to like him that much in a package.

I know some here like the Trae Young thing and some don't, but my argument for him:

- Trae can score from anywhere on the floor, and we are sorely lacking another go-to scoring punch with this team
- As good as his scoring is, he gets his teammates involved
- We know his lack of defense, but considering the current makeup of the team, he could be a great fit
- He's still very young and locked up on a long term deal
- Gives us time to figure out Ben Simmons

The cherry on top would be the vitriol Knicks fans have for him. Would make for some super fun rivalry games over the years.

I don't know how much I'd give up in a deal for him, but I would start at CT, Joe, Patty, and 2 1sts and go from there.

Starters -- Young / Bridges / CJ / DFS / Clax
Rotation -- Simmons / Din / Royce / Sharpe

I could see 3-5 seed?

Is that enough? Is this a good bar to set? Do we continue to wait for 2024 and see what happens that offseason? Do we hold assets and try for FVV instead?

If something like this could get us trae. You would have to think about it.

Different situations, Luka just signed and has stable situation ownership wise. LaMelo year away from QO and MJ selling. Also different personalities. Ball family will be looking for bigger Markets to sell their product.

I think Dinwiddle is fine. There are bigger holes at the wing position. It would be nice to upgrade, but I would much rather chase Lavine than Trae or FVV. When you look at the league, PGs are a dime a dozen. Most teams do not have traditional pass first PGs. Instead they have multiple playmakers so defenses cannot stay locked in on one guy.

I would much rather have a team of multiple mediocre playmakers than have just one great playmaker. Replacing Dinwiddle with FVV or Trae still makes this team one dimensional.

FVV and Trae are much better players. I love Spencer but long term i think we need all star level player at the position that can get Bridges the rock.

I'll take Lillard but the price tag matters. I'm not giving Portand a ton of picks for him or Bridges/Claxton.

Lamelo also has better +/- on both D and O. If LaMelo is horrible and Trae as well.

LaMelo TS% is significantly worse than Trae. His FT rate is .16. Trae is .46. How can you be a 6-7 PG and not get to the FT line? He literally takes more shots than Trae and yet he averaged 23 points while Trae averaged 26.

And Lamelo is too weak to ever be a good defender. Plays like D'Angelo Russell except with worse shooting talent.

Dame n trae are probably the most realistic options. Someone posted cam, joe, patty, 2picks for trae. If that type trade can get us dame or trae i think about it. If teams ask for to much they can kick rocks. No gutting the team trades

FVV and Trae being better than Spencer doesn't make the team much better because the gap between them is smaller than the gap between an offensively inept DFS and a Pascal Siakam, Porzingis etc. Or a Cam Johnson and a Jeremi Grant.

Again, replacing Spencer still leaves the Nets with only one playmaker. If he goes down or is not playing well, the team is finished.

No on Trae and Dame. Let's hold our assets until a real one comes by. Lavine and LaMelo I would like. Luka might be avail too eventually.

LaVine over Lillard or Trae?

Yes, for several reasons. I would rather a star wing then a star point guard. Lavine can easily fit right in and slide into the 2 and become our top scorer which we need. He's lost a little athleticism but he's proven he's a legit scorer even after starting this year shaky. He can play real good man on man defense and he's not a liability on defense like Dame and Trae who is the worst defender in the NBA by far. He's still under 30, 28 years old I believe while Dame is already 32 and battling injuries. But ofcourse it depends on the trade, I'm not giving up a whole bunch of assets and picks for any of these guys. If the price is reasonable then absolutely.

The only players that are untouchable are Bridges and Claxton.

Does Damian Lillard fit our timeline? He is 33 years old. I guess the Nets intel knew something we didn't when they traded Kyrie/KD. Marks is smart; he knew that the trade market would be wild again this off season. It seems like the new NBA really has these stars asking out in a really short span of time. It used to take years and years for players to finally give up on a team, now it seems like two years tops. I guess in a way it benefits the Nets. We shall see. I really want Jaylen Brown and if we can get him, maybe maybe, swing for Lillard if the price is right. Does Portland take CT and 2FRP? I think that's more than fair.

Edit--- To clarify, my initial sentence sounds weird because I typed Lillard but I wasn't referring to him asking out after two years. I was referring to other players. KD barely played two full seasons for us before asking.

I think the smoke coming out of Atlanta is real, especially if the Hawks fall tonight.

Part of me says no, but we're kind of desperate here.

There will be way more smoke coming from other different places. Chill man, fall back and enjoy what you can get. You settling here.

Not going to lie. I will entertain CamJ and 2 picks this year for Murray.

Other than that, they can kiss my azz.

Another problem with Trae, is that his reputation with other players suck. I'm not sure how many other star type players would want to play with him, if the Nets wanted to make a secondary trade after.

Lastly, I'm just not tied to the notion that the Nets "need" a star traditional PG.

Man, you know what's funny part is

They could've gotten Trae instead of Kyrie for same assets they gave us.

Man you need to give Marks props here and there for being Savvy

You right though, there are tracks of Trae being azz and teammates not being 100 behind him. Very suspect stuff.

If all these attitude and teammates stuff about Trae is true Marks might be wary on him with just dealing with kyrie. I still think targeting Lamelo is under radar move, Marks might be doing. Marks scheming something either this year or next.

Marks not getting enough respect here imo. Guy managing James Dolan 2.0 in Tsai and giving us chances to cheer for.

I believe in a year or two we will be legit contender again.

I'm really not sure what's up, but it clear as day we will get couple stars.

Just going to sit here and hope Ben can get healthy for now.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
