All I will say is a couple of the 18/19 year olds have high level upside. I want to hold off until I can profile them, but it is easy to hide developing players overseas on the bench. None are anywhere near actualizing their potential, but the athleticism/size profile is there.

Some of the guys you might be referring to...

-Bilal Coulibaly
-James Nnaji
-Eli N'Diaye
-Fedor Zugic
-Berke Büyüktuncel
-Ousmane N'Diaye
-Nikola Durisic
-Paulius Murauskas
-Yannick Kraag
-Zsombor Maronka
-Leonardo Okeke

All solid names with upside, but there are 3/4 who aren't even on the draft radar for now, as several of these guys are.

Some are being hidden like 6'6 Uruguayan PG Augustin Ubal. Others have the right physical characteristics, but the skills development and strength are behind relative to some of these guys.

I like a lot of these names, but I wasn't thinking about them with my initial post.

Which Miller?

I'd expect Brandon to 100% be ahead of Whitmore.
I like Leonard Miller better than Whitmore, but I thought I was in the minority there.

Where would you draft Miller? I have no idea where mocks have him but I have him as someone in the early 20s probably. I could be talked into the late teens potentially. Do you have him higher than that?

As for DWH: I don't think anyone would disagree. Hell, late first/early second would be insane value that nobody should pass up. I still think DWH has a shot at being picked in the late lottery, or late teens at worst. At least that's where I would draft him (higher or lower depending on how he looks in the work-outs).

yeah, after i posted, that thought crossed my mind. i agree.

In terms of guys who could be way better than their draft position, DaRon Holmes sticks out to me. I'd have some questions about his touch in general, but there's no denying the footwork, the effort and the awareness.

I can see Jaquez being tangentially similar to Bane, not saying as good but a guy that goes late R1, immediately shows himself as a plus on the floor and people look back and say 'how did he fall with that body of work'.

He just doesnt have much flash, but he does everything at least average and plays the game the right way. Tons of teams need talent at SF and Jamie is a pure SF IMO.

Shouldn't it be the opposite? Absolutely nobody is overlooking Miller at this point. If anything, Whitmore is at the risk of being overlooked simply because he didn't produce enough in college. He's an example of a prospect with a high end skillset that could be underdrafted (in the 8-10 range for example) because he didn't show enough in his freshman season.

GG Jackson is my pick for a player that might get picked towards the end of the 1st round that has the potential to make a lot of teams look stupid if he reaches his potential.

Edit: You're talking about Leonard Miller. My bad

I suppose the sales pitch for Jaquez is being like a Austin Reaves type guy. 6'6"/6'7" wing, not great athleticism, not good shooter and is old but is able to carve out a role in the league anyways by having decent and ability to handle the ball, create a shot, get to the rim, have good touch near the rim to finish and play with good toughness.

The wing who's a non-athletic guy, non-shooter who's 22 or older - it's a tough archetype to nail. Reaves has worked out but there's not a lot of those guys who are rotation guys in the league..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

You can't just compare him to a guy that was a MUCH better shooter at the same point. JJ has never been close to an elite shooter, he's barely average tbh. Bane was an ELITE shooter at TCU. 43% on 3s and 80% from the line in 4 years. Jaquez 32.8% and 74%. It's not even the same ballpark. There's just no comparison between them that makes any sense. Sorry.

There probably isn't superstar potential there, but I'm intrigued by the upside of Baylor Scheierman. Has a skill set that reminds me of guys like Kyle Anderson and Joe Ingles as do-it-all forwards.

In his first 3 seasons, actually played more on the ball at South Dakota State. In his four years of college, shot 39.5% on a total of 623 3-point attempts. He's one of the better forwards at getting rebounds. Just seems like he'll be a solid, solid pro.

I think Bufkin is being underrated vis a vis Keyonte George and Cason Wallace. I could see this guy getting into the end of the lottery. He's more efficient, has fewer turnovers and doesn't get sped up as much compared to Keyonte.

All of those players come to mind. Kessler was always within the range he got draft. It's just he should have got drafted sooner. Same for Bane. Where scouts missed on Kessler was obviously his athleticism which translated and for Bane, his strength. He is much stronger and he uses it well in the NBA. Everyone always liked his shooting and shooting touch.

His tankathon is very attractive for a Gleaguer too.

Guys like this are rare. If there was a Jimmy Butler in this class, it's him. His 79% at the FT line is impressive as well.

not really sleepers- Kevin McCullough, Hunter Cattoor, Seth Lundy
sleepers- Roman Penn, Gabe Kalscheur

also really like Bufkin. the way he plays at the rim reminds me of Derrick White.

it was at 90% up until the last couple of games, such low volume that it's hard to tell, 23/29 total

He gives me Bol vibes, in terms of tantalising with potential but on-court is just too easily exploited.

Last names for now

PJ Hall - could be a solid Bobby Portis type
Grant Sherfield - Could pop into a real NBA 2 guard, has shooting to fall back on
Wong- fan of his game and athleticism, hope to give him a hard look before the draft comes around

Return to NBA Draft
