Why is Jordan so insecure about his legacy

Post#1 » by GrindCityHustle » Fri Apr 14, 2023 11:04 am

A few hot takes for Friday while everyone drinking their coffee

Read this article and made me think

https://aedmonds503.medium.com/thanks-to-michael-jordans-insecurities-we-re-getting-a-20-year-old-documentary-d23206263c30

We have done endless polls around here and everyone still picks him year after year as the Goat. He is part of what made the NBA so popular.

I don't understand why he is so threatened by Lebron. The whole last dance thing really made me dislike him to the point where I'd rather build a team around Tim Duncan . He made fun of Jerry Krause weight even though he was a better gm than Jordan ever has been and has his son date scotties x. He just does a lot of petty stuff and isn't sorry for it deep down.

Alot of people have smoke with him. Charles Barkley nice enough not to air out his laundry dirty from gambling. He also has Charles Oakley go out there and insult Isiah Thomas. Even though I don't like Isiah from his Knicks antics I feel he ain't trying to hold on to old beef.

So where does the insecurity really stem from. He was also an excellent defender. Probably one of the best. Really the only reason the lebron goat debate goes on is because Jordan has beef he still refuses to let go. I mean as whiney as lebron is I would say he is probably a better teammate to have.

At the end of the day lebron is just a dude that tried to make a success out of his life despite not having a father and making the mistakes when you don't have that in.life. Jordan of all people should understand how important his father was to him.

Jordan's sons dating Pippen's ex is not Jordan's fault. It could be on MJ to step in and tell his son that he shouldn't date specific women, but she is essentially a celebrity milf that has been riding that carousel for years now. I'm pretty sure north of 100 NBA players have been with her.

And I doubt MJ is asking people to make documentaries about him or begging skip bayless to compare him to lebron. Those are simply things that get views and generate clicks.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Nothing you wrote even remotely makes me think of MJ's "legscy"

Are you drinking?

Jordan getting his son to date Scottie’s ex, to show his dominance over Pippen, is one of the most hilarious storylines I’ve ever heard

Why are you so insecure about Jordan's legacy? The dude has the most popular sports shoe brand and this is after being out of the NBA for 20 years.

Didn't the documentary come out before lebron won the bubble championship?

Here's the deal, the people who know Jordan is the GOAT nothing is really going to change that. And to the people who think LeBron ia the goat nothing is going to change that.

Let's see:

You are one of the greatest basketball players ever. Maybe the greatest.

A reporter comes to you and asks, "why are you so good?"

A) You provide reasons --> narrative: "he's insecure"

B) You avoid publicity and compliments others --> narrative: "he's a beta"

Mainstream media and herd mentality in a nutshell.

Jordan was and is petty. It's part of what made him who he was.

Fun fact - The Last Dance propaganda documentary is rated as the 17th best TV show of all time on IMDB.

Did he not create the Last Dance and choose to release it immediately after Lebron won the Cleveland ring? Seems pretty insecure

Weird thread.

Quiet as kept, MJ adores LeBron. He also loves Kobe and admitted he regrets not being more vocal about his adoration toward Kobe while he was alive. He's had nothing but positive things to say about them, but fans quickly draw lines in the sad to pit the three against one another.

Honestly, fans are inherently insecure by nature, and that's likely the driver behind narrative comparisons. It's easy to enjoy greatness when you put fandom to the side.

i guess that's his competitive nature (heh. we all know about that). But being the GOAT, he can act however he want.

Caring about people thinking you're a beta is a real beta mentality.

All I saw was an article written by some hack who hates MJ.

Lots and lots of famous people write memoirs/autobiographies to tell their story. MJ made a doc that was hugely popular. Some loser millennial with a blog didn't like it. Yawn.
