It’s not like he didn’t pass but also didn’t turn the ball over. His A:T ratio is very bad for a wing. Context that all you want.

He is probably one of the harder guys for me to rank.

On one hand he is crazy young, decent production, near great athlete and shot the ball well.

but on other hand when I watch him play I just do not see star potential. Gives me more Issac Okoro vibes.

I still rate him high, but it makes me nervous as hell.

agree 100%. not quite ready to say he gives me okoro vibes as i think his ceiling is so much higher, more naturally gifted than a guy like that, but i also think his bust potential is pretty high.

The main difference between Okoro and Whitmore when it comes to their floors is that Whitmore was a much more willing shooter. 9.4 3PA/100 and .42 3PAr versus 4.5 3PA/100 and .29 3PAr. He was simply much more comfortable shooting the 3 (and better at it, too) and that includes more difficult shots from the perimeter. That doesn't mean he is or will be a good shooter but it's just so important in the NBA for perimeters to be confident in their shot. That alone has floor spacing effects.

Okoro had/has better feel than Whitmore. Pretty good comp overall imo. There's a lot of similar concerns.

He's nothing like Isaac Okoro, c'mon.

You don't see any star upside in this?

Always helpful to see these guys in more than 1 context (so not just villanova but also team USA, HS, etc.) especially for guys where we only have a 1 season sample in college. And with a team like Villanova, they play such a defensive oriented, very balanced offense where it doesn't really lend itself to 1 guy standing out a whole lot.

The fact that only 1 of these highlights is from college is concerning to me.

I still have him at the back end of tier 2 or start of tier 3, which is like 6th ish, but I feel like his bust potential is relatively high for that spot especially when the road to stardom is a bit unclear IMO. I actually think Thompson Twins have less bust potential than he does.

I think you're focusing too much on the level of competition and not enough on what he is doing on film. But you have him ranked about the same spot that I do, so whatever haha. And 2 of those vids are raw game footage - not just highlights.

I forgot what he looked like in his USA highlights. He legit looks like hes in better shape here than he did at any point in this Villanova season. I really think he bulked up a bit too much too fast.

Love his handles. If he cuts fat and continues to add strength, he can play the 2.

Like him for Charlotte. I'm mentally prepared to fall from 4 to 5 or 6 where we can grab him. If we get 4, maybe we can trade with the Magic for their 2 picks and snag Whitmore and Hawkins.

Killer draft.

Yeah, seeing his handles I have no question he can at least handle the 3. Miles is our 3 and Whitmore shows me far superior handles than Miles did freshman year at MSU.

If he builds his body for speed he can retain NBA power given his surplus strength. He could be a 2-way stud at the 2 and really be a handful for smaller, weaker guards. It will take some time to develop him at the 2 but it's a worthwhile project imo.

He's a stealth pick. He might be the one who causes fans and analysts to scratch their heads about why he didn't go higher.

I think if your GM projects him as a SG, you're in business.

Whitmore's ceiling is being a taller Anthony Edwards

Sounds like you'd take that player #4 overall, possibly #2 overall.

If the Hornets fall out of the top-3, he's my #4.

Classic post here.

Laugh at someone else's opinion, then offer nothing at all of any substance to back up yours.

Also, I said that's his ceiling. If you don't think he will reach that ceiling, ok whatever. Not every player reaches their ceiling.

It wouldn't shock me if he ends up being a top 2 player from this class, long term.

While that might be his ceiling, I'm not sure how likely it is that he reaches it..

Wait so his closest comp isn't Miles Bridges. I fancy him a small ball 4.

Everyone’s ceiling is a HOF caliber player. I get it. I mean if a dude’s ceiling is 6’7” Ant that’s a future league MVP and HOFer. You should probably take him ahead of Wemby tbh. Basically Michael Jordan.
