I'm happy for their fans but it bums me out to see the Kings leapfrog us in building a contender. Wish we could see that level of success.

They have a better coach that has them playing like a machine at home, can’t tell me they have more talent, they clearly don’t.

They also don’t have a player demanding to be the offensive focus or they’ll pout and take only 3 shots a game.
Imagine if, before the Sabonis trade, we could have gotten Fox and Barnes for KAT. My god we’d be stellar.

I agree, they def have the better coach. However, Idk if I fully agree with the talent part. Honestly, talent can be overrated at times. Especially, when the level of effort and IQ don't match.
You could argue that Fox is and will be better than Ant. While Ant may have a higher ceiling, Fox has a higher IQ and better composure. You could also make the argument that Sabonis is better than all of our bigs. Yes, Kat may have more talent and Rudy more accolades but Sabonis just plays with more force and composure than them.

Nah you guys are right there. Just unlucky injuries throwing chemistry off and things of that nature. Wolves are the one team Kings fans wanted no part of, trust me.

I would say SAC has less talent, but they are more cohesive.
Fox = Ant (both borderline All Stars)
Sabonis =< Towns >= Gobert (all three borderline All NBA third team centers)
Barnes = Kyle Anderson
After this, you have rotation players, and I don’t give SAC the edge here.
Huerter, Keegan-Murray, Trey Lyles, Davion Mitchell, Malik Monk < Jaden McDaniels, Mike Conley, Naz, Taurean Prince
Rashaun Holmes, Len << Gobert
So why did we only win 2 of 4? Both teams had the same coaches in wins and losses. I think the main component was injuries. Plus MIN may have more talent, but players that are harder to mesh to maximize that talent.

Agree with most of it but they have 2 all stars this year and we have one. Sabonis is better than Towns this year. Fox is more consistent than Ant. Their support cast is more well rounded and better 3 point shooters. We have bipolar players. Monk is a reliable bench scorer that Nowell couldn't get to. We are also down two key players right now and KAT was out most of the year.

Here's where I applaud them. It's easy for a new GM to come in, see that things aren't working, and tear it back down.
Monte McNair took his time. Waited a little over a season to make a coaching change. And then - with an interim coach in place - made a move to trade the 21-year old building block who was his first ever draft pick for a 25-year old all star big just entering his prime. Having the star players in place like that actually allows him to be more choosy on not only the new coach but also the type of players you want surrounding your stars. The Huerter trade along with the Monk signing were great moves.

Couldn’t you equate that trade to doing something similar with McDaniels?

I was literally shocked to see GSW and Kings running same type of offense for a few minutes last night. I don't know how but SAC FO has done great to put together roster and coach who get most from players

Potentially.
I think a significant difference though is the perception around the league. Jaden seems like he's still an afterthought based on voting results.....I don't feel like Tyrese was at the time of the trade even though Jaden's been in the league longer than Tyrese had been. The other big thing is the coaching situation. As I said Gentry was their interim coach at the time of the trade. The timing allowed them to set things up how they wanted it.
I actually think in terms of players, we're set up to potentially be the Pacers in the next year or so. Probably will need to split up the bigs. Might not get good immediate value but everyone thought the Pacers fleeced Sacramento at the time of the trade due to Sabonis' depreciated value perception playing next to Turner.

Murray was a pretty great fit for them. Everyone laughed because they passed on Ivey.

Building a franchise is about more than just one player or pick. Five years removed from Sacramento picking Bagley over Doncic, who thought Sacramento would be in the far better position today?!

Draymond Green deserves to be kicked out of the league.
Enough is enough.
The Warriors have the nerve to cry about a 1 game suspension?

Stars make a huge difference and are important but really its all about fit. That's such a massive aspect. You need to get the right players in the right spots. I think trading for a vet star is a great move for a young team but again that star has to be the right fit. Sabonis was exactly what the Kings needed.
Just like how Wiggins fits so well on the Warriors but here he was underwhelming. Vando was great here but couldn't get on the floor in Denver. I think our big problem this season is there aren't many great fits. The right player in the right place will elevate them highly. Jokic is absolutely a phenomenal player but another advantage he has is he has a team totally tailor made to his skills.
It makes a huge difference when you have the right players along side your star players. The Kings have nailed that this season.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

Re: Around the league 22/23
A huge component being ignored is that Minnesota’s best player missed 52 straight games. Out of those 52 games, how many more wins would him being healthy generate? If the answer if four more, Minnesota would have home court advantage. If the answer is six, then Minnesota would have a tie-breaker over Sacramento for the sixth seed.
Instead, Minnesota is now facing the best team in the Western Conference with both Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert banged up, Karl-Anthony Towns still getting rhythm back from a near season ending injury, and both Naz Reid and Jaden McDaniels out for the entire series.

KAT is not our best player. I don't know that we would not have missed the playoffs entirely had he been healthy honestly.
Had he not gotten injured Naz would have been getting DNP-CD's instead of carrying our bench and putting up 60%+ TS%.
We lost TEN GAMES to horrible teams.
Given what we are seeing in the playoffs and having to play D-Lo for over half a season, I'm starting to believe this team actually overachieved a little bit given its talent/BBIQ level.
Denver is not THIS good. We are making them look way better than they are.

After his "stellar" performance, D-Lo was trending on Twitter.

D-Lo is throwing a wrench into Connelly's master plan to cripple the Lakers franchise with a big D-Lo extension with this playoff performance.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
