Mavsless PO thread

Post#1 » by Mavrelous » Sat Apr 15, 2023 5:59 pm

A thread to discuss the PO
Significant ex Mavs:
Nets:
Dinwiddi
DFS
Curry

NYK:
Brunson

Kings:
Barnes

DFS started for the Nets, had great defensive plays, ibe boneheaded offensive (possession ended with a basket), hit a 3, and got benched.
Dinwiddie is playing good, but is off from 3.
Seth is a bit hesitant for some reason.

Bridges, who looked very limited offensively against the Mavs is killing the 6ers with 23 1st half points, but Sixers are too much for Nets to handle.
Dinwiddie isn't playing well.

Lakers beat the heck out of Memphis 128 to 112 so that was the team we needed to matchup with in the play offs for sure. I never thought we would ever lose a series to Memphis they are just a regular season team not built to play well in the playoffs. Trick is getting the right matchup in the first round. But tanking was a goal evidently and probably was the goal before we traded for Kyrie. I would not complain about Kyrie here he is a great player I think the teams goal to tank was what hurt us more than anything.

Pressure is on the mavs now they have to pull off a minor miracle to get lucky in the draft and find Luka and Kyrie the help they need on defense and you're not getting anyone better in a trade than you can get via making the right moves in the draft and then seeking to sign some free agents after you have a chance to see what you can get in the draft.

If we can get a center and PF in the draft then obviously we need to upgrade SF in free agency but will we even be able to do that. Cameron Johnson would work but if Taylor Hendricks drops to 10 I am going to be very happy.

I try not to get my hopes up to high so I would be happy with Gregory Jackson at 10 because he might be as good and maybe he will have a bigger upside, especially, if he is still growing larger. I like his game a lot but he is a year younger and could be slower to develop.

Rui scoring 29 points for LA shows us he would have been a nice player to grab. Maybe Nico and Cuban just cannot find the will to settle in on a target and find a way to do a deal. I remember losing out on him and thinking don't our guys have any ability to make a deal happen? Rui would have helped us improve our team a lot.

Lakers got a deal done like they wanted him bad and they just set their sights on him and made it happen. Wish Cuban would learn how to target players like that and make it happen. If you want someone you go all in on it and you do what you have to do to get them. Of course the Lakers are the Lakers so who knows what they said to make that deal happen.

Well they finally emphasized defense and its paying dividends. What this team needs to realize. Yeah Luka needed a co-star, but it didnt have to be someone with so much baggage and even less D.

You are right but a Mikal Bridges type of player worths 4 FRPs... We can't trade for a player like him.

Yea but I think the lack of patience has bit this team far too many times. The KP trade with NY was rushed, understood the gamble, but taking on all that trash salary in THJ, Lee, and Burke, they should have negotiated the picks better where maybe not send out the one we still owe. The KP trade with Wash was horrendous and still cant understand why Dal was the one that gave up a 2nd. The Kyrie trade was a panic move.

If the team is set on Lyrie, which is still a frightening thought given his history, then you have to put excellent defenders in the other 3 starting slots. The Lakers top 2 guys are also great defenders so they could get away with having okay 2 way guys in the other 3 slots. We need at least one defender who is all world and DPOTY candidate, and then the other 2 should be really good.

the thrill is gone seems appropriate and this song has that bluesy feel with Ritchie Blackmore on guitar. Were did our team go wrong?

Man, I want nothing to do with D'Lo in the offseason, I'd rather let Kyrie walk than trade for him.

Iztok Fanko is a really smart Slovenian basketball commentator and a Luka fan of course, he posted these pictures about Brunson

If you check the +/- from Knicks win against the Jazz, you'd see it's the bench unit that had the + and the starters who had the -, Knicks start Mitchell Robinson, a non shooter, and RJ Barret, a bad shooter, and Randle who's streaky, their spacing is bad, I didn't get to watch any of their games, I'm focusing on the west.
Hawks have the same problem also, Trae is really small, and can't operate in a clogged lane, and non of the Hawks starters are good shooters.
This is important for the Mavs, RC didn't even bother playing Powell against the Clips, even when he ran out of options.
Having non-shot creating and non-spacing players like Mitchell Robinson changes the floor a lot, this should be a huge consideration for who the Mavs should target, I'd much rather have Turner than Capella.

Well Bucks looked good without Giannis and they may be who comes out of the east I cannot see Philly beating them if Giannis comes into that game healthy. I think Nuggets and Bucks is the finals

Buckets vs Nuggets KFC needs to advertise and sponsor this series

Harrison Barnes is the main one I intend on focusing on. He never wanted to be traded and we removed him from our bench during a game to inform him. That's never set well with the players union.

Memphis won against Lakers with a break out game by their 3rd C... That is a good and depth roster.

Another injury for a Suns opponent team... What a lucky destiny. Every year is the same story.

Luckiest team in the association, and they'll still brag and act like they conquered some juggernaut.

Hate the Suns, Lakers, and Grizzlies. I hope neither of the 3 win.
