Curry had recurring ankle injuries that hurt his value in negotiating an extension, but I think the general consensus was that without those injuries he was worth much more. In other words, it was a fair value contract given the risk assumed by GSW.GunnerWRX wrote:Crazy-Canuck wrote:
Franchise killer if true.
Steph sacrificed money early.
Wiggs just sacrificed money on his extension.
Hopefully dray also sacrafices.
Poole went for the bag, but can't blame him since it's his first big one. It's on Myers for offering it.
I have klay behind steph, dray, wiggs, and loon with regard to importance.
Please stop with that Steph sacrificed $ narrative. Go back and read the news if you didn't or have forgotten about it.
Many thought the extension was a bad risk given his health at the time. Even among diehard Warriors fans.
He got secured $ without hitting FA, at a price and contract length that many thought was a bad gamble.
He didn't sacrifice anything.
He got as much as he could, given his health, as an extension, having security before hitting FA after 1 more season.
Of course it was fair. Market value. Enough people thought it was a good gamble, and enough thought it was a risk, that makes it fair.
If it was a no brainer either way, then it wasn't a "fair" deal.
My point was he didn't "sacrifice". He got market value.
