Draymond Green Suspended For Game 3, League Cites History of 'Unsportsmanlike Acts'

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Apr 19, 2023 4:43 am

The NBA suspended Draymond Green for Game 3 of the Golden State Warriors first-round series against the Sacramento Kings for stepping on Domantas Sabonis' chest.

The league's statement notes that part of the reason for the suspension is due to Green's "history of unsportsmanlike acts."

The incident in question occurred with 7:03 remaining in the fourth quarter of Game 2. Sabonis grabbed Green's right ankle, to which Green responded with the step.

Green, who asked for an x-ray after the game, believed he injured his right ankle in the incident

I agree but better than nothing.
I was worried the league wouldn‘t do anything to keep the Warriors alive for ratings

I don't care if it was Giannis who did it. He should be suspended. Not because of his history.
If his history is the reason they did it, then I fear for what they do when there is a fight or a retaliatory punch/knockout from a couple of upstanding players

Very glad to see a comment board that isn't in the ultra weak tip about how he shouldn't have grabbed his foot. Even Shaq was on that ****! So lame. Guy is a loose canon, that is a pyscho move. I'd say one game isn't enough but they'll go down 3-0. Klay wants a max this off-season. It's over for the warriors. Was a fun run, but this will put the nail in the coffin

THANK GOODNESS...... most of the national media is with Draymond and calling everyone who disagrees "soft"... but this dude already lost the benefit of the doubt after his like 8th ball sack kick years ago.... no one likes Draymond and he made his own bed.... now he gotta sleep in it

Does this affect his flagrant count for future suspensions? I think he was one flagrant 2 away from a suspension, so does another flagrant 2 still get him suspended [another] game?

Holy crap... everyone in here agrees! That never happens. Kyrie can say world is flat and somebody will be in here saying, "But it is!"

It's a magical day in RealGM history!

I hate that it happens in the playoffs, but Green deserved the suspension and caused it with his own actions. If you don't want to get suspended in the playoffs, don't do incredibly violent, intent to injure things.

These idiots didn’t suspend Sabonis though. I guess grabbing ankles is sportsmanlike

Sabonis got a technical foul. Which is completely appropriate.

Pleasantly surprised NBA didn’t botch this. Was afraid Dumars Michigan connection would make him soft on Dray

The messaging for the justification for the suspension is not consistent with the actual suspension length. If the messaging is that the player has had a repeated history of similar offenses then why is he getting the same punishment when the punishment didn’t prevent this particular offense? He should’ve been suspended 2 games at a minimum.
