Re: Around the NBA (and other Sports) 2022-23, Part 2
It's so predictable that coaches (in this case Mike Brown) get credit for a team's turnaround. We KNOW Mike Brown can't coach. We know he inherited Lebron and was carried by him for years. We then got to see him go from being a supposed great coach to being completely exposed when he went back to CLE when Lebron left and failing, resulting in him not getting another HC job for six years. The reason the Kings are succeeding now is because they got a full healthy season from Sabonis and Fox, they drafted the exact thing they needed in Murray and got Monk. All while many of the Western Conference teams dealt with major injuries. What Will Hardy did with the Jazz is easily more impressive. They decimated that roster and he took a slew of castoffs and rookies and got them to be very competitive. It's laughable Brown would get COY unanimously. Even what Joe Mazzula did is more impressive since he got the job right before the start of the season, had to juggle playing time and egos and the Celtics IMPROVED winning more games than either Ime or Brad before him and since 2008 when they had the Big Three and were defending champions. These post season awards are a joke

I haven't been watching the heat bucks game but when I saw the score I assumed giannis was playing.......Wow, the heat are a complete embarrassment. If you lose fine but you didn't even make it a game without giannis!?

So this means Bucks are better without Giannis. They should trade him to us for PP and Grant

Woah. Bucks only won by 16 after they were up by 30. I wonder if Bucks beat writers are gonna ask Budenholzer in the press conference why they let the lead slip down to 16
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Mazzulla inherited a team that went to the finals and added a veteran starting PG to the bench. The team had an MVP candidate and a DPOY. Not knocking what Joe did but he had a pretty easy introduction to head coaching.
Will Hardy took a team of NBA vets to a 37-45 record. They had 4 full time NBA starters on the roster and guys like Clarkson and Olynyk had started 100+ games previously. That's not bad, that's not impressive. That's more or less what you would expect.

COY has never made sense to me, because it just goes to the guy whose team has the most surprising record in the positive direction. If MVP used the same criteria, or ROY, or All-NBA, or 6MOY, or DPOY, it would make no sense. But for coaching, that’s the pinnacle: have low expectations, and beat them. I guess what I’m saying is that Pop should have a lot more COY awards.
Paul Pierce appreciation society.

Yeah I agree. Evaluating coaches is just really hard because they are not close enough to on court result but also not far enough removed like executives.

I see Towns polished off another 10 points (on 3/12 shooting), 5 turnovers masterpiece in the playoffs. Where are all the people that wanted to trade for him ?
