A’s still owe me a couple hundred bucks for my season tickets for the COVID canceled season too lol. Doubt I’m getting that back now.

Following the 2022 NFL schedule release last week, fans flocked to the secondary ticket market to get an early jump on nabbing a seat to their preferred contest.

Of those, the Raiders were the most in demand ticket early on in the secondary ticket market, ticketing technology company Logitix announced Friday.

The average Raiders home game ticket at Allegiant Stadium on the secondary market is $595, The Raiders are followed by the Miami Dolphins ($387), Los Angeles Chargers ($361), L.A. Rams ($359) and Kansas City Chiefs ($354).

"This season, the Raiders have dethroned the Dallas Cowboys as StubHub’s most in-demand team, cracking our Top 10 list for the first time – and demand is largely driven by fans from California traveling to attend the first in-person games at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas," Akshay Khanna, general manager of StubHub North America, said in a press release.

The Dallas Cowboys come in second, following by the reigning champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The San Francisco 49ers and New England Patriots round out the top five.

This past season, the Raiders generated more revenue from ticket sales than any other team in the NFL. The Raiders made $119 million in ticket sales, despite the team’s stadium having the third smallest capacity in the NFL, at 65,000, and they sold the 25th-most tickets. The San Francisco 49ers finished second in ticket revenue with $117 million.

Those fans who purchased tickets to Raiders home games on TickPick, on the secondary ticket market, came from all over the country.

Those from California were by far the largest buyers of tickets last season, representing 57 percent ticket sales on TickPick. The Golden State is followed by Nevada at 12 percent, then Texas (8 percent), Arizona (6 percent) and Colorado rounding out the top five areas at 5 percent.

Total attendance is low because it’s a small stadium. They sell out every game and the tickets are expensive as hell though so it’s been a goldmine for Mark Davis.

I came in here to say a) I'm sad whenever a champion leaves a city, but b) to me the only time I'm really bothered is when the lone team from a bigger market moves to a smaller market - because to me really raises questions.

But you make a great point. I had assumed they must have a dome to play in...but they don't. Attendees are going to get sunstroke. It's irresponsible to approve this until they get a more protective stadium for the Vegas summer. I'm honestly surprised this wasn't a dealbreaker.

Is there pics of the new stadium? Otherwise I dont think they actually play there until 2027

Ya, from the article linked in here The club announced it had reached an agreement to acquire land near the famous street of casinos and hopes to begin playing games in a new billion-dollar retractable roof stadium there by the 2027 season.

Rollie Fingers is from Steubenville, Ohio. Steubenville was the Italian mob's "open" gambling city before moving their operations to Vegas. ... most of the dealers who went to Vegas in those early years were Italian/Greeks who oversaw Steubenville's "illegal but legal" gambling dens.

Rollie's Oakland As now also appears to be going to Vegas.

Spoken like a true player only fan, which epitomizes the NBA fanbase in a nutshell. Believe it or not, people have an affinity to where they grew up, so naturally they support teams from their area. Surprising I know.

So does this basically affirm that it's gonna be Seattle and Vegas as the two expansion teams? Both already have all three other pro sports teams at this point. We just need to find a good name for the Vegas team. I personally like Spades.

How is rooting for the same team no matter what they do better than rooting for a player?
If your local team is good and plays the way you like then support them otherwise support some other team.
If you like some player's playstyle then support the team he is on.
Aren't people who support team/player who play the way they like bigger basketball fans than people who only support their local team no matter how they play?
Also, new is not a synonym for bad.

Great thread. Everyone here is very informed.

I will miss the A’s. One of my favourite moments was when Robbie alomar hit that homer in the Alcs against Dennis eckersley.

I haven’t lived in the area for 20 years but as an A’s fan growing up this sucks. When I started watching the NFL the Raiders were from LA and I never followed them, and the Warriors are still in the Bay so those aren’t too painful.

Sports owners in Oakland have just been so awful. And Al Davis was awful to his host cities and soured Oakland’s relationship with sports owners. A’s ownership sucked but we’re a little screwed by how Davis behaved and since they couldn’t get a stadium had to play in a stadium that encouraged walk up Sales over season tickets. Cohan was the worst owner in the NBA before he sold. Just such awful/ cheap
Owners in a market that should be very profitable with the right mindset. Lacob was lucky to take
Over with Curry but also had a mentality of being aggressive, creating good culture and Spending to hire knowledgeable people.
Jarret Jack: “I brought one of my best suits. But looking down at this jersey, it’s just a sense of pride I don’t think I’ve ever felt as a professional. … Nothing in my closet is better than what I have on now."

It'll be in a dome most likely.
Vegas is a big market, it makes sense from a financial standpoint. Oakland was a money pit. I feel for the diehard fans there but there was never going to be a long term resolution in that market.

You can root for whoever you want to.

I grew up watching sports with my dad. I root for the teams he roots for. My children root for the same teams.

I feel like it’s a bigger deal in football, where we’ve been to Bears-Packers games.

My favorite article of all time is Bill Simmons writing about how he tries to brainwash his daughter to hate the Lakers:

if the Jazz wants serious chances at free agents that's what they might have to do too.

A's had poor attendance and old stadium, owner needs a change and he's unwilling to invest into Oakland more I guess?? Whatever, Moneyball.

But why Vegas? He's gonna build an indoor stadium right ? And if it isn't a dome, it will be 110 on the field during June through September. Just seems like a bad investment location. Vegas too has some water supply issues going on, it just seems unstable for the moment.

No more SF bay-series.... sad times.

Water supply issues is BS. Vegas is one of the best at recycling their own water. Why would they keep building houses here if they are so worried about the water?

I agree about the water issue being somewhat BS where I think they are really good at water management but just cause they are building houses doesn't its not a risk. People still build fancy homes along the coast, in flood zones and near forest fires. To different degrees, they are bailed out by insurance, government subsidies or just dont care and want a cool home. People do stupid ****.
