Opinion: Magic trade pick #11 for...?

Post#1 » by mattdelray1220 » Fri Apr 21, 2023 12:02 am

Just for fun. Who do you think is a realistic target for the Magic to trade the #11 pick for? 1 for 1.

I'll go first. Anfernee Simons - I know his defense is suspect but playing with Fultz and Suggs should mitigate some of that. Also if we add lets say Hendricks or Walker with our other pick. Along with the miracle of JI coming back. I doubt pick 11 would be better than Simons.

Portland would want more. 11 is not really worth that much tbh. There's a better chance we take a swing and miss on someone. I'd go for GG Jackson and just let him grow in the G League.

If Portland isn't trading Dame, they're gonna want immediate difference makers instead of another lotto pick IMO.

Late lotto picks don't usually get traded so I'm not sure what we could actually get for it.

i dont know if the mavs would do it since they are likely looking for more immediate help, but i would love to get Josh Green on the team, and think he would be well worth the #11 pick

this, just would not touch Wcj(would send Suggs + lottery pick)
problem,do no think the bulls want to trade him.

they are stuck there with the ownership not willing to tank and developing young players.

If the Magic can get a starting quality player for the #11, that is a great haul. Historically, draft assets in this range are projected in trade simulations as "significant bench player". The Magic is not going to trade the pick for such a player: but as a thought experiment this is a player like Shake Milton. That's the picks "intrinsic" worth.

So yes the draft assets are all about upside and "potential". In that they are traded to a team looking to disassemble its roster. Portland may very well be such a team and a realistic trade could be G-Harris, #11, this year's SRP and a top-10 protected 2024 pick for Simons.
There Portland gets an expiring and three "well-just-maybe" type assets for a player they cannot further develop. It is also an interesting use of assets for Orlando as well.

WIll any of us be surprised if Orlando drafts 7th, and then trades that with the 11 for the 6th? It is a good trade for both teams, assuming Orlando eyes "its guy" at the 6 slot.

It's funny. That'd be your dream scenario and it would be my nightmare one. That's why nailing the draft is hard!

I don't see any way Hendricks gets past Dallas at 10. Dick might make it to 11 though. It's easy to find guys who can shoot. Caleb Houstan. Dick has to give me more than that to justify taking him in the lottery.

If the Magic go 2 in the draft: there will be anarchy on this board in the Miller vs. Henderson attacks. Here's hoping the Magic go 1 or 3???

Easiest decision ever. Greatest needs AND highest scouts rating vs really high-upside backing up our best player (who’s 20).

Scoot is Ja-like

Miller is maybe Jabari, possibly Zaire, potentially Ingram if you really squint

I’d be all for the Magic trading for a Josh Green or Simons if they feel the middle lotto picks they have won’t produce a good starting 2, which is obviously the Magic’s biggest needs. This draft looks more like an athletic 2 draft with the exception of Gradey Dick who’s the shooter.
You look confused...let me fill you in.
