For a perimeter player id look for someone with the following which is a must for us.

Elite first step
Good shooter
Capable and willing passer
Avg defender if plus then great

The other stuff about how generate points is something to look deeper at later like a good pick and roll player, can they finish above the rim, floater game, in between game, using their body to shield defender etc we need someone like this with size as a guard preferably.

So you want us to draft a guard with size who has an elite first step and is a good shooter? Surely that won't be hard to find. LOL.

I'll take whatever is as close as possible obviously that sounds like a superstar but right now we have non of those skill sets in a guard position

Coulibaly is interesting and will come onto the scene even more with workouts. Seems Raps going to be patient on Banton next season. Kid needs to play. Still we need guard depth and hoping Cason somehow falls even though it isnt likely.

Their guys are better than our guys for the future. We only have Scottie and OG, and there’s already smoke around OG, so we might just have Scottie. If you’d rather have this mess of a roster long term that’s your choice, but I’d rather have what Orlando has to build on.

Banchero had a decent rookie year, better than Scottie’s second year. But this is not a comparison post. I’d just rather have Banchero, Wagner, Isaac, WCJ, Fultz to build with that just Scottie, and maybe OG. Like I said, we need to use Pascal like they used Vucevic to gain future assets.

This is a strange comparison. We have the best players on either team, and everyone in this discussion ignores them to set an arbitrary age cut off.

You guys are penalizing the Raps for having good vets. That's silly.

I don't think it's a strange comparison at all. The question was simply who has the best young talent - Raptors or Magic.

I saw some comments saying they would rather be Orlando based on the young talent. That's like saying you'd rather be Orlando over the Bucks because Milwaukee only has Grayson Allen as a young talent.

If you want to compare only players under 26, sure. I like Orlando's players too. They did win the draft lottery afterall.

I remember last fall when Masai was in France watching Wemby and everyone thought or hypothesized Raps were tanking. I didn’t realize it at the time because I hadn’t heard of Coulibaly at that point, but my guess is he was there to scout Coulibaly over Wemby.

This isn’t always true. I’m watching Malik Monk play good defence for the Kings in these playoffs. A lot of times it has to do with the system and the buy-in from the players.

Look at all the good defenders we had on the Raptors this year and how crap we were defensively most nights. Its a coaching/effort thing.

The Kings had like the 24th ranked defense, well below the Raptors. I'd be surprised if they ended up repping the West. I'm still not even confident they can win round 1. Anyone can D up on occasion, but 4 rounds is a grind.

But since we're talking draft, you'd be happy spending #13 on Malik Monk, a bench player? I'd rather sign him for 9 million, like the Kings did.

If the 13th pick ends up being like Malik Monk then that means you nailed your draft pick lol.

That’s a 10 year player.

Cory Joseph is a 10 year player. If your pick at 13 is making 9 million as a bench player for another team 6 years in, you've missed. Monk has like 20 more career starts than Christian Koloko. I'll take Monk at 9 million, and draft for higher quality in the lotto. Just from a cap economic standpoint I'd be looking for players that can stay on the court 28+ minutes. Cs excluded that's roughly going to give you a top 150 or so NBA player.

I think I confused the Ignite game in Vegas. But either way, Coulibaly was likely the target.

Masai is in Europe every year around the same time. He will go to see all the major NBA prospects. This stuff comes up every season. When you hear stuff like they were one of oonly two NBA teams to send a scout to Australia to see Josh Giddey, that's informative. When Masai gets spotted at a college game or in Europe, that's just part of the routine.
