No evidence for this obviously, but I'm 100% convinced that Dejounte did this on purpose specifically so he could start his vacation early instead of fighting for his life in game 5. This is not a guy you can go to war with if you're serious about winning.

I checked and confirmed you’re right about this:

If BOS wins Tuesday, BOS/PHI starts Saturday
If BOS/ATL goes 6 (Thursday) OR 7 (Saturday), BOS/PHI starts next Monday

But back to my thesis: IF Jaylen’s hand needs time to heal I do it now, rather than risk this being a lingering issue. The mask was whatever. But if he’s busting open stitches each game with his “statement” dunks then he needs time off. And Jayson could use a 40 or 50 piece to get his MVP juices flowing a bit more.

Lots of “ifs” from me, admittedly, and I don’t expect this to happen.

My mistake. Doesn't change my opinion on whether Jaylen should rest. If on the off chance the Celtics don't win tomorrow without Jaylen, playing Jaylen on Thursday would be barely much difference than if he played in game 5 and the Celts win. Of course we don't want this series to go to 7. Ideally, we give Jaylen 5 days rest, I'd rather not risk the game theory and starting the Sixers series earlier means that these guys can collectively get more rest for the ECF, especially if it's a short series.
