Jimmy Butler VS Paul Pierce

Post#1 » by Grinditout » Tue Apr 25, 2023 11:16 am

Yes, this is another Butler thread.

Peaks to peaks, who you guys got(whether single season or multiple).

Put a prime Butler in place of Pierce on those Boston Celtics from 2007-2010, how better or worse do they perform?

Butler. Pierce's offense may be better but Jimmy's all around game
or essentially his elite defense and superior playmaking ability puts him ahead for me.

Peak? Butler, comfortably.

Butler has had series that are a tier above Peirce. It seems clear enough he has the peak advantage.

Hard to take Pierce here.

I think Paul might fit better into an ensemble. I would have liked to see him in today's environment, because he was a boss at drawing fouls back then and a much better shooter than Jimmy. I do not, however, remember him as a high-end playoff performer. He had some good series against Philly, Indy and New Jersey in 02 and 03, but he didn't do particularly well against higher-end defenses to my recollection. I don't remember the same kind of aggression from him that Jimmy brings, nor a similar level of defense.

Gotta go Butler.
