All of the local reporters have said the entire FO, from Connelly and Gupta to Finch, were onboard with the Gobert trade. So if that's your metric for getting rid of someone it's going to take a full clean house, probably including incoming ownership too.

If that's the truth, they all need to go.
I have a strong feeling that's the company line, not the whole truth.

Unfortunately we don't get much of a window into the minds of the decision makers or what goes on behind the scenes.
Makes it really hard to evaluate them beyond their previous moves.

If I were an owner hiring a GM I would have a questionnaire with about 100 hypotheticals on it just to get more of a window into their philosophy.

Sounds like there’s speculation associating Tim with the new GM position opening up in Washington. Sounds like he initially wanted the job a few years back but he declined it due to a lowball offer.

It's completely up to Wolves ownership whether they keep Connelly or not since he signed a 5-year deal. If ownership is truly unhappy with Connelly it could be a way to reset, but I'm skeptical they would want the upheaval that comes with having a new president of basketball operations for the second straight year.

Did he interview the last time the position opened? Yes.
Did he turn down a job offer from them at that time? ALSO YES.
Does he now make considerably more money now than he did when he turned them down before? Yes.

You are not giving Vando near the credit he deserves for his defense.
He has absolutely locked Ant down twice including 3/17 shooting.
He's a roleplayer, but he can play any style of defense and guard 1 through 5.
He's the glue that makes Davis and Lebron very hard to score against in the frontcourt.

Gobert is also a role player, just a much much much much more expensive one.
Vanderbilt is also a very good rebounder, that's not his primary role though and it's less necessary on the Lakers.
That he was just seen as a throw-in by Connelly in the Gobert trade was an egregious mistake.

Vando cannot anchor a defense. Gobert can.

You still need people around both, but Vando inside on a team without defenders isn't scaring anyone. Rudy basically dragged a team of no-defense (outside of Rubio/Conley) in Utah to respectable defensive numbers (which then got exposed in the playoffs, because one guy can't make that big of a difference when it comes to the playoffs).

Bullsh*t. Multiple sources have sited the same source. Just because today's media parrots all the same sh*t to get clicks, doesn't mean that there's a bunch of legit sources reporting on this with first hand knowledge. Hell, the "source" was speculating in the first place, then everyone reported that speculation as if it has merit.

The Wolves would deny the request and I highly doubt Connelly would even take the interview. He wanted out of Denver due to cheap ownership and has a pretty f*ckin sweet deal with the Wolves currently. It would make no sense to entertain an offer with Washington, just because he has history there.

This is the kind of story rubes latch onto in order to confirm their bias some more and reinforce what they already think (Connelly sucks! Let him leave!).

I could have posted this a hundred times on every post of someone tying themselves in knots trying to justify the Gobert trade, but we're supposed to be better than that here.

There is speculation from all the local guys including Doogie, Dane, and Hine going back weeks on Connelly and Washington.
And Connelly did a radio interview this week and went through a whole lot of verbal gymnastics to avoid committing to the team for this year, there is an article in the Strib (Taylor owned paper) about it.

It's his hometown team, has to be dream job, it makes a certain amount of sense.
It's a legit talker for sure.

I'm not excited for someone to come in and blow the roster up yet again, but I don't know if Connelly is the right guy to make things work going forward given how invested he has to be in making Gobert work here.
