Re: Bucks Offseason Thread - Trade, news and re-tool discussion
Going to hurt some feefees but Jrue is an unplayable net negative in the only season that matters - the playoffs. He is the wrong type of guard to pair with Giannis because he can't create, space the floor, beat a guy off the dribble. Fools gold plain and simple.
It is equally important that Jrue and Bud both go.
Portis too. No role for him.

Khris I like as well though obviously slowing with age/injuries and he just isn't a guy you can rely on as a full time ball handler. Can't really attack the defense with his handle, can't make an entry pass to save his life.
I don't even really care what type of player, I just want some smart, capable players on the perimeter. A guy like Jingles would have been awesome 10 years ago, obviously fun in spurts but probably just too far gone. Still hate the "get a 40% shooter" "get more athletic" takes as always really tbh. We have like 5 guys who shot over 40% from three this year on the roster, didn't help that much in the playoffs. Think getting young and athletic just to get young and athletic doesn't help the team either. Couldn't care less where a Lonnie Walker and co. decide to go in the offseason. We need basketball players. If we wanted guys like Gabe Vincent and Caleb Martin we'd be met with "they don't shoot good enough" "they aren't 6'8 with 7'5 wingspans" but they sure as **** would have helped our team in a series like this.
Gotta find the next Malik Monk.

Wouldn't scoff at that. My ideal would be finding some type of Derrick White / Austin Reaves guy atm. Or ya know pay a guy like Malcom Brogdon what it takes to stay on the Bucks.

Dame retweeted a picture of him and Giannis in blazers jerseys. Let’s hope Portland falls very soon and he comes here or goes elsewhere, and hopefully at the very least can’t poach him away

Raptors most likely want to move on from Siakam and find younger dudes to put around Barnes. Siakam though, can't do what Khris does.

If I were Bud, I'd take the buyout money and sit back and rest for a year.
And then take his pick of the jobs that become available next offseason. Dude could definitely wind up coaching Anthony Edwards as he matures into a superstar or be brought in to fix the Pelicans.
Hard to believe there'd be a GM in the league who thinks Bud can come in and fix anything. The guy sucks. He'll most likely be an assistant coach for the next 5 seasons before retiring/getting another shot for some **** rebuilding team.

Indiana isn't giving up 7 years of prime Haliburton for 1 year of washed up Jrue/Khris.

Think he means identifying our "version" of Hali and being aggressive to get him. Not sure who that could be, Hali and SAC was a unique situation.

Yeah misread that. There's no "our Haliburton" available though, and no one is giving up a potential future AS for Jrue or Khris, especially after this series.
We aren't getting draft picks either. At this point, Jrue/Khris will only fetch a couple of overpaid role players.

I’ve slept on it and lean towards keeping Jrue and Midds. I’m not against dealing them but I wouldn’t be giving them away. Deals like Dinwiddie and DFS for Khris for example would be a no go.
I think a coaching change and role players tweak is prob the better way to go. We just lack assets to get much done though.

Think you're wrong there, at least about Jrue. He is still well-regarded around the league as a premiere defender and great teammate. Combine that with a "weak" draft after Wemby/Scoot and I think we could potentially extract a high-ish pick for him. Khris is trickier, obviously, with the looming decision on his $40M option. I just can't imagine running it back, even with a new coach. I suppose that could be the half-measure Edens/Horst fall on, but the damage done in this series will be a huge mental hurdle for this group moving forward it we largely stand pat.

It's either running it back (with or without major changes) or getting out of the tax. The luxury tax is ticking and we can't afford a single non-contending season in the tax.
I think they run it back with a different coach. The second most likely case is that they let Middleton and possibly Brook go and creep under the tax. The third most likely thing is they aim for the Hollywood trade (Dame), but that could turn into a desaster very quickly.

The most realistic path to getting 'our Haliburton' is probably trading somebody for the 12th pick and our Haliburton is available for totally inscrutable reasons, like happened with the real Haliburton.
I don't feel anywhere near as strong about him as I felt about Haliburton but I do think it's the right time to get the guy who went one pick later: Kira Lewis.

Run it back but with a little help from our Canadian frenemies?
Replace Bud with Nurse Bud has to go regardless. Joe Prunty wouldn't have made the mistakes he did down the stretch. Besides Bud looks like he's in need of a long rest. Nurse is the best available, arguably a top 5 coach, not much to think about here. He's available and we're in need of a change.
Keep Khris because 1) No one else on this roster can do what he does; has the most valuable skillset for playoff bball and once again did his job. 2) No suitable replacement comes to mind. 3) Sentimental reason, been with Giannis since day 1, they competed for the starting SF position and pushed each other to get better. If Khris leaves, Giannis has one less reason to stay.
Keep Brolo Well, duh but it won't be easy as teams will come for him. He should get at least 17m, maybe even 20m.
Regarding Jrue, I know I don't want him as my primary ball handler. The thought of trading him is ever present but he can lock up most people and I don't want to lose that. I wouldn't trade him for LaVine because I think he's a losing player. I think it's about finding the balance. Boston have that with Smart and Derrick White and also have Brogdon. Remember horst tried for FVV.
Who says no to: FVV, Jrue, Khris, Giannis, Brolo with Nurse as our head coach?

I think with bringing Haslam's deep pockets into the mix, ducking the tax is not something they are overly concerned about. Sunk cost fallacy or however you want to label it, you cannot let Khris and Brook walk for nothing. There are no avenues for improvement after that, and saving repeater money won't do much at the table with Giannis.

I fell in love with Kira that draft cycle, but can't speak to how he's looked after the ACL injury. Makes me nervous, since he is a guy that relies heavily on his burst/quickness to be effective.
Could get him very cheap, though, I'd think.
