What they see live should somewhat match the analytics otherwise they don't really understand what they are watching and are merely being cheerleaders. Game score measures impact on the game results

I think most fans vote favorite player rather than performance.

I mean, Tatum pretty much controlled the game, even with only taking 20 shots. The Hawks throwing so many traps at him is what opened up the floor for everyone to drive.

I don’t give a **** about VC’s, but he had 30/14/7 on 20 shots, with 0 turnovers, and was a team best +11. Hawks players went 4-16 against him on the other end.

Jaylen was really good, hit some huge shots, so I have no problem with him winning. But brushing Tatum deserving it off as just looking at post game analytics is silly. He had 2 less points on 5 less shots, 9 more rebounds, 5 more assists, 2 less turnovers, and was much better defensively.

Tatum played great the whole game. JT's last 6 minutes of the game production both offensively and defensively were off the chart.

For the record, I split the vote between JT & JB. Both stepped up.

Jaylen is completely deserving too, but the people who think Tatum only played great to end the game, only pay attention to loud plays.

Nice to see the killer instinct we didn't see in Game 5.

Ice (Cold) Trae's 1-13 in the 2nd half sure helped.

Tatum has been doing a lot of the dirty work. Getting in the trenches and rebounding (which is huge for the Celtics), battling bigs on D and took care of the ball. Don't know what else people want him to do?

Tatum and/or Brown are not going to have Jimmy Butler type numbers. That's not how the Celtics play. The Celtics are a much better team with guys like Tatum, Brown, Smart, White, Brogdon, Big Al etc. The Celtics spread the ball around, that's why they are so tough.

Butler had 33 shot attempts his last game, that's not going to happen with Tatum

I voted JT and JB. Jayson had a better stat line but probably the dagger three and the emphatic block on Murray remaine in people memory.
Jaylen played really bad in the first six minutes of the game, other than that he has been almost perfect. So people tend to forget first minutes of games.
That's could be the reason JB won the VC.
Both deserve the VC

Wrong. Tatum is a playoff choker and all he does is jack up threes. Am I supposed to be impressed by 14 boards, 7 assists with 0 turnovers, excellent defense throughout, key stops late, the highest +/- on either team and good decision making out of double teams in a closeout game ?

A big adjustment Joe made late, he switched where Smart was positioned when Tatum was being trapped. It was almost like a scheme you see against a zone, but they just stuck Smart at the nail, so instead of him being the open catch and shoot guy, he got the ball 15 feet out, and they played 4 on 3, with Al and Jaylen in the corners.

Atl has a couple good 3 and D wings one of which seems to bother Tatum more than usual and has an elite handling guard who can come off screens and shoot from deep.

Philly has none of that and is borderline 1 dimensional it’s the Joel show and that’s pretty much it. We’ll have the ability to really push the fastbreaks and just run of picks and shoot over the drop.

Was gonna post it when a Boston fairly thread came up but yes I agree we match up better with philly than most teams in the nba... Somehow I think Al horford and Robert Williams will have a better series than they did against Atlanta...

Tatum needs to play much much better... I would also hope Boston can put jolin B on the pick and roll defense every time as he also plays drop coverage...

Boston can and needs to wear his ass out..

It took me a minute to figure out the typo, but I vote he forever be known as Jolin B… especially when advance next round.

Sometimes I am surprised and yet Proud of my WTH typos.. :D
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

That’s not true. Joe doesn’t make adjustments according to some

One thing I love about it is how good-natured Smart was about taking a deliberate -- yet excusable -- groin shot. At least Trae didn't do that twice in a row!

It was a basketball play and it wasnt intentional to the groin. Trae immediately went over to smart as well.

No reason to get hot

Haha he threw it right off his crotch lol.

Anyways on the main point, if a team is down 6 to save the season with 18 seconds to go, I think something went wrong before that. Extremely long odds at that point. Obviously terrible execution at that point but it’s just over already at that point.

I mean, Miami advancing was amazing, but c'mon I feel as if some of the criticism was unwarranted, Giannis didn't play 3 games, basically. They lost 2 of the 3.
Anyways, for me it was Brown.

Definitely wasn't unwarranted, Giannis is obviously a gigantic loss and Butler's a beast, but the Heat's wing depth was decimated when they lost Herro and Oladipo (obviously those two aren't nearly the level of Giannis, but the Bucks still had Jrue/Middleton/Brook). They were closing games with CALEB MARTIN. The Bucks had 28 more free throws than the Heat in Game 5 and lost.

They had enough to win. They got Giannis back in games 4 and 5 and lost both.

They look like clowns right now, Bud in particular looks like a clown, and Jimmy Butler looks like a hero.

I don’t think the hate on the bucks is unwarranted and bud looks very bad but as I mentioned very low chance Miami wins if Giannis is healthy imo. He put up numbers but he never even guarded butler heavily during the series bc he was so hobbled. He missed most of game 1 - and 2 other whole games.

That all said credit to Miami for capitalizing and f the bucks

Yeah I think if Giannis is healthy, the Bucks win in 6 or 7. But it was clear, even if Giannis was healthy, that their wing defense was just not good enough to win a chip. And Bud is a clown.

Celtics would've probably beat them in 6

My main issue with Joe was his refusal to play D White down the stretch of games. I do still think he needs a #2, former HC type assistant that can make his life easier. We miss that with Stoudamire gone.

I don't think he's Steve Nash, but a lot of head coaches are only as good as their assistants, and I think Joe can sometimes be held back by his lack of good assistants

Marcus commits turnover then misses 2 3’s and joe pulls him in favor of grant. Brown promptly hits a 3 while marcus fumes on the bench. When marcus goes back in he’s under control and helps close out the game so good move Joe
"Now, there's a steal by Bird..!"
