overplayed FVV in the 76ers series when it was a rock fight a lot of the time and he was no match for their size, failed to make the obvious adjustment in the Bucks series until down 2-0 and the team was close to going down 3-0 if not for some luck, would've won in game 5 of the finals and no need for a close game 6 if he didn't call that last minute time out. it was a highly intelligent veteran team and the guy was carried by the best player in the world and the others.

There was nothing wrong with Nurse as a coach. In fact, I think he excelled with what he was given to work with. This season the luck just ran out, and he had to overplay his hand to mask the obvious roster flaws and the fact that our team couldn't shoot.

The overhelping, the blitzing, the crashing the glass, all of it was a act of ingenuity by a coach who knew what the limitations of his roster were.

He's going to help another solid team to championship, and soon.

The grizzlies win handily if they had their actual big rotation of Adams/Clarke, so they're far from trash, they're just missing two critical pieces for the playoffs.

And I'd puke if he goes to the clippers.

Good point about Adams/Clarke. I actually wouldn't mind NN on the Clippers. It would be fun to see him back with Kawhi. It's an interesting spot to see how NN performs. And the Raptors would have a chance to scoop up Lue.

lol yeah i'm not a fan of Nurse even beyond the basketball and locker room issues. don't really like that he has his own branding when he's just a coach, is overly dramatic on the sidelines with those dumb looks and exaggerated body poses, is on two bit tv shows for attention and in a **** rock band, and probably carries the guitar with him on the road just to look cool and unique.

You give them that roster healthy, and they're a lock for a title IMHO.

If healthy, that's a big if.

Watching Coach Bud's endless brainfarts does make me thankful we had Nurse. Nurse, for his flaws, would never make that mistake.

Thanks Nurse. This thread is too short for what he's brought to the team, and to the league.

That being said, I think that 1st year experience has shaped Nurse as a coach. He wants players who readily understands his schemes, who doesn't make mistakes, communicates well on the floor defensively, are able to make plays from anywhere on the floor and can shoot the 3 from all 5 positions. He no longer tolerates mistakes. That ain't gonna happen with young players on the team who needs development time. For a "young" coach, his inflexibility was disappointing. This is why Houston didn't interview him. He ain't doing **** for their young players.

I appreciate Nurse and all his eccentricities.

Here's hoping the inevitable memoirs are as good as our imaginations.

Saw someone suggest Bucks should go after Nurse and I'm thinking that's actually not a bad idea granted they can keep their roster together.

Will wish him all the best wherever he goes as long as he doesn't run his mouth like Casey did.

Relationships matter everywhere. Nick is smart, and generally a nice guy but he has some real leadership flaws. Nurse isn't going to be a Spoelstra/Pop/Kerr anywhere and I think he will finally get the reality check that he really needs soon enough.

Never been so disapponted to have the curtain pulled back than with Nurse.

I like Nick a lot and I really appreciate all he’s done for the Raptors. He’s the best coach in team history.

But as Lee Iacocca said “if you can’t work with people, then your future within our organization is limited because all we’ve got here are people”. Nick’s shortcomings on the people side made it inevitable that his shelf life in Toronto (and likely elsewhere) has a five year expiry date.

Wish him all the best wherever he lands next.

I appreciated the championship. But I think KD and Klay had more to do with it happening than Nick.

We were fine when Klay played. Sure game 6 ended close with no Klay but that was the nature of that team. They tended to not blow teams out. It was always a slow grind with our wins.

Wish him all the best. I don't blame him for the mess. He's involved in it but it's not just him. We've been bleeding talent for years now and not replacing it. I'm sure he's involved with some people issues but I think that's overblown. Those things tend to happen during a disappointing year.

I'm glad he's gone because his schemes are outdated and I'm not sure if he has anything else. He was very innovative 4 or 5 years ago (whenever it is he took over), but that's a lifetime ago when you're talking pro basketball. I don't believe we can be successful with his defense and offense going forward. Anyone can be successful on the offensive side of things with the team we had when we won the championship, but it's been trending downwards ever since, to the point that it's pretty much bottom of the barrel. As for the defense, I'm not a believer in it against top teams. Top teams have been mostly picking it apart for awhile now.
