But it's hockey. The best team doesn't always win. And the leafs were definitely not the better team in this series. Tampa basically dominated the series and lost. Hockey is fickle.
If they play Boston and win...the next two series will be against inferior teams relatively speaking.
This is what's so great about the NHL playoffs. Its largely unpredictable where even the best team in the regular season can lose in the first round if it runs into a team with a hot goalie or something. NBA playoffs are a snoozefest much of the time precisely because its so predictable with relative few upsets.
I still expect Boston to win game 7 and if they do in a way playing them would be the 'just' thing to do because after having gotten rid of their playoff demons with the Lightning, what better way than to really get rid of your demons than to slay the biggest monster that has given you nightmares for so many years?
Also Tampa really did outplay and control most of the games in this series outside of game 2, but in the past where the Leafs might've folded and lost when they were pushed, this time they kept battling and stayed close and then were more clutch than the Lightning for a change where it didn't matter that were outplayed just that they came through when it mattered most. 3 OT wins in Tampa is pretty damn crazy and no one would've predicted that, but the Leafs did it.
