Didn't watch a lot of the game thank god. Had my own life happening. What I did get see included a sequence where the Nuggets missed 3-4 shots under the own basket. With each miss I saw Ayton behind the backboard doing the same thing I was...watching it happen. He never moved forward or did anything else to get into the mix. From what Im reading this was his basic performance tonight.

And yeah, what coaching moves does Monty do in the playoffs? Why doesn't he have more players ready to contribute?

Another second round embarrassment. I am still sore from last year second round embarrassment.

I read somewhere that fans take loses worse than players. I wish Ayton and the team are at least a fraction as upset as I am. I want to see and feel the energy of a loss from my team. Not blank stares and cliche catch phrases after a loss. I want a Paul Westphal promise that we will come back and win the next game and the game after that. I want this team to show me they are pissed and come out and dominate.

Nope. This is a team loss however Monty **** blows.

Says literally every fan after their team loses. The players have to play better, period.

C'mon man! Who's job is it to get your team prepared, focused, dialed in and motivated? Who's job is it to figure out productive rotations? Who's job is it to properly strategize and utilize your players in specific matchups (after a full week no less) to get the most production and efficiency out of them? Who's job is it to make "in game" adjustments to counter what the opposition is running? Who's job is it to effectively utilize timeouts to stop or inhibit momentum of your opposing team? It's no big secret to anyone the players and schemes that Denver runs here, yet after a full season of seeing them play, playing against them multiple times in the regular season, and then having a full week to strategize for this series, your coach is still apparently lost strategically and can't counter anything to keep his superiorly talented team from getting emphatically embarrassed??

Now I'm not saying this loss is fully on Monty alone! But he's certainly not shown any semblance of strategic ability, adaptability, or even the ability to keep his team engaged or motivated! Currently he's been outcoached in multiple series now and it's not looking yet like there's been much if any progression or advancement to his coaching acumen! Maybe he simply needs better coaching staff to help him in these situations? Maybe he just needs Jones to actually field a quality bench rather than bargain basement scrubs? or maybe he's just a decent but not championship tier coach and can't lead this team to a title after multiple postseasons? Regardless of any of these considerations, the responsibility for wins, losses, and adjustments ultimately fall on coaches! That's just the job description! A coach's job is to lead your team (like a conductor) and to get the full capacity out of your roster talent. Therefore, IF you have a history of repeatedly underachieving your stated goals, and repeatedly show lack of competitive growth or the ability to adjust in your position, you customarily become a focal point in consideration of issues hampering or impeding success. It just is what it is! :dontknow:

What do you mean? I'm on your side. Didn't you see the part where I said Ayton needs to die and that I hate him? It's in capital letters. Maybe I needed to bold it and put it in red or something.

But yeah, anyways let's rush the team hotel and murder Ayton before game 2. That way everything will be fixed and the Suns will go on and not lose a single game ever again in life.

Serious question Slim, do you truly believe we choose to specifically block out DA from our view? ie We watch both teams play but somehow are blind to DA on the court and we're just making up lies?

I've said this numerous times but I agree with you guys AYTON NEEDS TO GO. That won't solve the root of the problem which is Monty. We got very lucky in the last round as the Clips were starting to expose us as well. He is a disaster of a head coach and all of this could've been different had he been canned last year after Dallas...or earlier back in Jan. I'm really not against you guys, I just don't think you see the full picture.

That leads me to answer you question. I think there was a built up anger here after the Ayton/Luka debacle and how the 2 players look so some posters remain pissed and will jump on DA for anything he does or doesn't do. Anything short of Hakeem or Shaq would've been seen as a failure. Ayton isn't Luka and that is the problem for most of those people.

Like I've said though, this well is poisoned and Ayton needs to be traded whenever our season ends unless it ends in a championship. Probably even in that situation too.

Now that you're being genuine and honest, I'll say that I agree. This deserves an and 1, so you got mine.

The fans are of course going to be emotionally invested due to paying for tickets, merchandise, corresponding media accts, memorabilia, etc. and all while making unbelievably less than the players themselves. It's just simply easier for the players to detach from losses and accountability when they're making millions upon millions and will never have to worry about financial implications in their lives. They literally get paid multi millions to play a game! Sure they get Benchmark incentives too for doing well and excelling at their trade. But once they get their contract they're pretty much set and their money is guaranteed! Now if they were like any other everyday job that had performance reviews and salary reductions for poor performance/ productivity, You'd see many more players work a lot harder to get better and care more about wins/ losses. And maybe that's just what the NBA actually needs for more self investment and accountability to promote a better product? But of course the player's association would never allow that!

What is Monty to do when a max player is hurting the starting lineup? I don't believe that Booker or CP3 trust in Ayton's abilities on the court. His defense, rebounding, and energy level are just plain bad. When basketball media are talking negatively about Ayton and WNBA players are making fun of him, it should be obvious even to the casual fan that Ayton is causing issues. Bridges, his best friend, jumped his **** during a game this season. I'm so bummed we missed out trading for Sabonis.

With the window so small for this team, if I had my druthers for the next game, Ayton would riding the pine. Center by committee using Bizzy, Landale, and Wainwright. I'm sure it won't light a fire but I would hope it could salvage some trade value because for every game he plays, he's destroying what is left of it.

A lot of really salient points made here!
We really need legitimate upgrades this offseason! We need LEGIT scorers/ shot creators off the bench. We need strong defensive wing/ forwards that can rebound productively and block shots. We need skilled ballhandlers and strong 3 point shooters! Overall, we should have (I believe) around 13 million available to us.

- 5 million Luxury tax payer midlevel exception.
- 4.5 million Bi annual exception?
- 4.9 million trade exception from Saric trade?

Does this sound about right to everyone? So maybe something like
- Okogie 5 million??
- Biyombo 4.5 million (Bi annual).
- Dennis Smith Jr 2.4 million (TE).
- Kieta Bates Diop 2.4 million (TE).
- Frank Kaminsky Vet min.
- Drew Eubanks vet min.

Two way contracts (3 allowed per team). Perfect for cost controlled youth development/ G league team.
1- Point Guard.
2- Jumbo 3 and D wing/forward.
3- 4/5 with size!

Again, I’ve said it again for any of you on not on Suns twitter….the biggest Ayton hater on the Suns forum (whoever you think that is) would be seen as one of the biggest fans of Ayton on twitter. That’s how ruthless people are (rightfully) going after him lol

I’m glad Shamet deleted his IG and not active on twitter, he’s getting more hate than Ayton, Bledsoe, Frye, Morris twins etc ever did.

He should tell Monty to not play him for his own safe honesty.

Pencil game 2 as a win for us then folks. We’re gonna be a completely different team. DominAyton said so.

On to game 3. I wonder what adjustments Nuggets will make.

Ayton looked like ... Ayton to me. Not great, but not bad either. Suns even ran offense thru him early in the game and were looking for him in general. But yeah, his teammates don't trust him, even Mikal, who was always looking for him, but people saw them once argue about a defensive miscommunication, so it's clear he hates him too. LOL Yeah his production is not of a max player, but he was not the reason for the loss. This series completely depends on figuring out how to not let an inconsistent player like Murray always play out of his mind against us.

I guess Boston is high altitude city as well , cause he was year younger and his ball handling was terrible as well

It’s no trolling but KD handling the ball is absolute turnover machine , very casual , sloppy , uncoordinated

In all seriousness the Ayton hoodie and skull cap are both clean.... I'll rock that in Scottsdale and will clean up on girls.

Damn, so we have two great scorers, who can turn into TO machines at any time. CP3 should have been the person to take care of the ball, but that requires Monty implementing an offense that's not ISO ball, but players coming out of screens and taking open shots.

Return to Phoenix Suns
