Ok it was a bad move made for PR reasons. Simple as that then.
Terrence Davis barely made an impact on the game. He’s not doing anything special for Sacramento either. Negative BPM, mediocre TS%. There are a lot of Terrence Davis’ walking around pro courts. The biggest impact he could have made was maybe allowing us to lose to Miami instead of Chicago for the play-in.
There really aren't that many big guards with that level of athletic ability that shoot above average from 3. We were missing guard depth, 3pt shooting and slashing this year, all things he brings to the table. If we had someone to reliably spell Fred while being able to play off ball so Scottie and Pascal could be more effective as point forwards, the entire season could have gone differently.
We sit here only hoping we can draft someone with more natural gifts than TD with the 13th pick. Players having impact is about development, and we gave up on a kid with potential for the wrong reasons.
The fact that you’re complaining about letting Terrence Davis go says a lot. Both about where we are as an organization, and where you are when evaluating talent. He is not a game changer in any way besides hitting a few shots here and there on occasion. You call him an above average 3 point shooter, when he’s not that. His best shooting season was his first year with us, since then he’s been regressing.
He was a moron who cut a hole in his mask during the biggest pandemic in the last 50 years, but that’s not why he isn’t on this team. He provided nothing worthy of keeping him around much longer than we did. He had all the potential in the world and went undrafted, then proceeded to have a mediocre career to this point. There’s a reason he is where he is.
