He plays worse when there's more rest, though it's not a great sample (8 games only).

The home/away splits are more noticeable, even more if you take into account he played more efficiently post-ASG.

I only see 3+ days, is that all that is available to view? But yeah, the multiple days of rest thing could easily be wrong. It's why you always have to check the data vs. your eye test.

The others are here.

I also edited the previous post just to add a brief comment...

Klay shot poorly all game.

In fact, all Warriors except Curry struggle to make baskets, including from the FT line.

But he made 3 big shots in the third quarter as Warriors built up what would be a double-digit lead at the end of the 3rd quarter and 20-points in the fourth.

There was a moronic suggestion posted in the game 6 thread to sub in Moody for a lot of Klay's minutes. But that 4-point play at the end of the 3rd quarter is why you have Klay out there, not just to make big clutch shots but to lift the defense.

Curry absolutely carried the team to this win, but he was covered one-on-one all game until it was too late for the Kings. One reason Brown did that was the threat of Klay and even someone like Poole, leaving them open.

Because if they blitzed Curry, Warriors would have gone 4 on 3 all game long.

Moody isn't making that 4-point shot. Notice how the play developed, the Kings blitzed Curry as soon as he crossed the half court line with one possession left in the quarter.

Klay cut to around the hash mark, about 28-feet away and Curry got it to him early so Klay nailed the shot despite being fouled on a late contest.

As much as Curry carried the team in this game and in the past decade, he needs spacing to cook. That is why Klay got paid the big bucks, over 40% from 3-point range in the same decade that Curry was playing as a top 3 player in the NBA.

Curry needs that spacing and this core just isn't the same without Klay punishing teams for trapping Curry, not to mention taking away the burden for Curry to defend the best guards on the opponents.

But by all means, keep up with the nonsense. Klay will probably struggle again. However, without the threat he poses to opposing teams, none of what the Warriors are about works.

Klay has a much better match up next round. I would not be surprised to see llay on bron so wiggs can take reeves out of the game.

Klay will have to match DLO's production next round.

Kerr was commenting about Steph's great performance, including not only the points but the low turnovers.

He called out the spacing as the reason Curry was able to deliver this performance.

Hey but what does this bum know, Warriors have won 4 titles in spite of him, not because of him. :D

Klay is average. He hides it well by being an absolutely elite 3 ball shooter. He can hit them when barely open... hit them on the move.

He is bad to awful at every other aspect of the game, making him about an average nba guy overall. We don't know what we could have gotten back from Klay at the deadline. I would not be surprised if it could have been someone who helped GS just as much this season, and more next season.

He played some good defense in the 2nd half last night. Most of the time he’s a turnstile though. On offense he‘s so volatile he’s a huge risk to have out there for big minutes, he can shoot/pass you out of a game by himself. Dude has been in the trenches for a decade though, so Kerr is going to ride him no matter what.

He's due to some regression to the mean... and the matchups vs the Lakers will be more favorable to him too.

Klay can still light it up, and I think a series against LBJ/LAL will fire him right up.

That said, the Lakers guards of Russell and Reaves is not great for Steph and Klay as they will make em work on both ends.

In his post-game comments Kerr was raving about Klay's defense.

Also, interesting but apropos of nothing, Draymond mentioned it was Steph who, in the timeout before the third quarter close said Draymond set that screen with six seconds left on the clock, but don't set it for me, set it for Klay. Four-point play.

I don't think Klay is going anywhere, but I'm starting to think Poole might be gone this summer to bring Steph, Klay and Dray some serviceable role players. Poole's got trade value, will cost a lot, and is sabotaging things on and off the court. So far this playoffs Poole is demonstrating that he can't be Steph's replacement in a Warriors 2.0 - and Steph is not ready for Warriors 2.0 yet.

And the front office needs to understand how they have done such a poor job of drafting players who fit around Steph. A lot of lost opportunity there.

+28, 8-11 from 3 when the Lakers went ALL OUT to deny Curry looks. Steph only got 12 shot attempts, 5 3PAs. He got 12 assists because they were blitzing him on the pick and roll though.

But someone else had to knock down shots. JMG hit 3 and a couple of guys hit 2.

Yeah GSW has no need for a second elite 3-point shooter, Curry is enough, even if he's trapped most of the game.

BTW, either Mark Jackson or Van Gundy said Klay sometimes hunts for hero shots. Well his most legendary games, like Game 6 at OKC, were him taking difficult, contested shots.

In 2019, I remember him hitting a couple over Kawhi and Siakam in the Finals, that is both jumping out at him and him nailing the shot in their face. He was shooting around 50% on 3P% or over it for that series.

Now, it's a lower-percentage shot when its contested but I get why he does it sometimes, because he's trying to get back to his form pre-injury. It's like people YOLO'ing after pandemic restrictions were lifted -- they want to get back to going to concerts, clubs, travel, etc.

Maybe he'll never be that the pre-injury Klay again, in shot making. But he's going to try and the Warriors are going to keep feeding him those tough catch and shoot attempts, like he hit a couple tonight.

If he misses them, the whining gets loud.

Unfortunately, besides Steph, he's the only other big volume scorer on the team. Warriors NEED him to go nuclear to have a chance.

If he plays it safe, only shooting when his shot isn't contested, Warriors aren't going anywhere.

Klay can't guard PGs anymore. Should be 6th man in the near future
