Christian Wood Expected To Leave Mavericks In Free Agency

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon May 1, 2023 4:03 pm

The Dallas Mavericks are not expected to re-sign Christian Wood in free agency, sources tell Tim Cato of The Athletic

The Mavericks traded a first round pick to acquire Wood on an expiring contract last June. Wood is a talented offensive player, but his limitations on defense were pronounced.

Wood’s agent, Adam Pensack, launched an aggressive behind-the-scenes campaign to media members for his client to be considered an All-Star this season, but sources say the coaching staff of the Mavericks didn't share that view.

When Wood was last a free agent in 2020, he signed a three-year, $41 million contract with the Houston Rockets.

He is our only adequate big who can actually play NBA-level basketball.
Now we're stuck with permanently injured Kleber, 39-year old McGee and, god forbid me, powell...

Trade him for a first and let him walk. So how does the Mavs get better this off-season? Who can they realistically pick-up, they don't have valuable assets to trade. No one is knocking down the door to trade for Javalle Mcgee

Cuban more worried about his Twitter followers leaving than his players, the Mavs are a disaster and it’s not going to get better soon.
