I posted it realtime as the game was playing. The Celts best lineup, at least tonite, was Brogs, White, JB, JT and Rob. Period. I watched it and commmented on it real time in the game thread. I think he pulled out Brogs and Rob and brought in Smart and Horford. And the lead went away and the rest is **** history. We've got a coaching problem.

Al can give you spots, but he doesn't have the motor. Rob has the motor and youth to do more things. So that was a mistake. Smart for White I think might've been ok, but I think taking Rob out was fatal to it all. point was the team was in the lead and he subbed it away. The lead shrunk and then was lost. Along with the game.

This just doesn't bode well. Losing the opener at home without them having their top guy. Doesn't look good without a doubt. I don't have confidence in this team. Never had it since last year. And that's a shame because we've got a boatload of talent that comes in waves but there's just something that's off. Defense definitely, but there's something else I can't pinpoint. Perhaps coaching.

No one could say Brad didn't have them playing hard. They were a fun team to watch. Didn't win, but they brought it every nite. Those teams had heart. Might've had something to do with IT. But they played tough ball.

Somehow mazzulla spent a few years with Brad and one with Udoka and has managed to be the worst of both.

Offense that stagnates, an affinity for drop against guards that can pull up and that passive, no accountability nice guy attitude Brad has.

I hate it for this team.

Smart isn’t very good. He’s clearly lost a step on defense - which is what made him more impactful - and has always been inconsistent on offense - prone to bad turnovers and mistimed shots.

He’s also clearly not why the Celtics lost tonight as others have pointed out.

In the second half, the Sixers went hard with crowding/trapping Tatum. On top of that, they very aggressively went into ball denial mode with Jaylen, both worked pretty well.

It was great execution by the Sixers, Celtics will need to figure out a way to counter it.

This team melted down the stretch plain and simple. They had a lead at 111-107 and had 3 possessions where they could have extended the lead. You can’t trust this team. They better win game 2

Living in the Pacific Northwest I do not watch many Celtics games but I saw Grant Williams only played 4 mins today. Is he hurt, in the doghouse or did he regress to the point where he is unplayable? In the playoff games I saw last year he seemed to always make a timely play (taking a charge, a steal or block, etc).

Al has become a massive liability on defense. Teams are seeking him out early and often. His minutes must be cut.
