We got the offense but we cant execute absolutely NOTHING.

Maybe we finally revert to 0.5 with Payne starting since no Cp3 slowing down the play
Too bad this gives us the rebirth of Shamet minutes.

We're in a really tough spot.

Kenny, even when we play better defense we still lose cause we can’t shoot the ball. It’s practically Booker and KD iso trying to score or pass to anyone but that anyone can’t drive inside for a layup or hit two consecutive threes. I’ll be surprised if Phoenix manages to win two games that will be a great accomplishment. I hate seeing our team struggle better lose quickly and make some moves in the offseason.

Plus Paul pulled his hammy so now it’s much harder to compete with no starting pg.

Zeke has already made one trade

Seriously. You dont go to dinner without your GM and make a franchise changing trade. Shame on dimplick Jones for agreeing to a deal he felt/knew was bad. Nutless wonder bowed down. He needs to go. His GM career has been highlighted by what he didnt do.

But the fear is we have not seen the last of Thomas. Dude mediocrely coached for 5-6 yrs. Dont remember exactly what happened but he sabotaged the knicks and was sacked. Seems like i also recall some inappropriate tomfoolery

Lol.

You don't tell your boss no. What job where you're allowed to say "I'm not gonna what you tell me even though you sign my checks"

That's why I don't think JJ can be fired no matter what happens. I bring up Presti alot but I truly don't think he's coming here. This offseason at least.

None of them can be relied upon on a nightly basis. Our weaknesses have been clear every offseason and every trade deadline, and we sit on our hands while other teams get better.

I mean backup PG has been a concern since 2021 and he sat on his hands and hoped an injured Cam Payne would be the answer for us. He couldn't even snag a 3rd string PG until he claimed Saban Lee off free agency but that was just out of sheer desperation due to all the regular season injuries.

I know it is beating on a dead horse but every time I read something like this it just makes me think about Haliburton sliding, us needing a PGoTF, and it seeming to be such an easy no brainer pick. It would make such an insane difference right now.

Just noticed Suns had 5 ft attempts must be some type of playoff record. I thought KD is supposed to save us in that area what happened?

Or drafting Bane with the pick we traded for Shamet.
Too many what if's for us. And it seems like we cant nail anything.

Serious question.

This has always been a prominent issue since Jones became GM and Saver's ultra cheap ass didn't want to spend to acquire cheap young talent via the draft. As much as people tout Phoenix being a destination for star players, etc, We haven't attracted JACK SH** in the way of legitimate stars in their prime or key premium free agents in over 20 yrs. Paul and Durant are both past their primes, and Crowder and Mcgee were both mediocre additions honestly. And even then, we had to overpay Crowder just to get him to come here and not resign with Miami. This is even more exacerbated by Jones delusional arrogance believing that we don't need to value the draft. He's been disillusioned by playing with players like Lebron, Wade, and Bosch in their primes and of course it appears inconsequential to have quality depth because those players can carry a team to an actual title pretty much by themselves. Jones is living in fantasyland thinking that Past their prime stars and fringe bust scrubs can carry this team to a championship. And Saver was loving his delusions and feeding/ supporting it because it meant he could cheap out on talent/ depth in free agency and the draft.

Big changes are absolutely coming this summer. And I wouldn't be surprised if that included Jones and Williams for their perennial ineptitude. This is simply why you just can't skip steps in the process like we've done trading for Paul on impulse after a miraculous bubble run, and Durant at the expense of our future. BECAUSE a 37 yr old Paul wasn't ever gonna be a prime Lebron level star. And Durant (as great as he still is) just isn't the same world beater he was pre ACL injury with Golden State. IF we likely get bounced in this series, We need to seriously evaluate everything and work to reset our books and add legitimate depth! AND DRAFT ASSETS to offset our top heavy contracts and add LEGITIMATE PREMIUM TALENT, LENGTH, HIGH LEVEL ATHLETICISM. That's how you offset bad shooting nights and struggling.

1- Trade Ayton this summer Any of:

1- Dallas
For key upgrades and most importantly, the 10th pick in the lottery and a chance at Wemby or Scoot, or one of the Thompson twins, etc.

2- Houston
For cap space, a premium talent like Eason, and the 20th pick in the draft.

3- Portland
For better cost controlled depth in Simons/ Nurkic/ and the Knicks pick (23rd pick).

4- Charlotte
For Rozier/ Fillers/ and the 23' Denver pick ( 27th pick).

Absolutely move Paul for cap space or for legitimate depth pieces IF we want to give it one more yr with Durant before changing course. I'd look at Philly (if they lose Harden to Houston). Paul/ Shamet for Tobias Harris/ 24' NYK 2nd. Or maybe Toronto (who's going to strongly prioritize cap space for Siakim and Anunoby). So Paul/ Shamet for Van Vleet/ Trent Jr?? Or Paul/ Shamet for Van Vleet/ Boucher/ Porter Jr. Then bring in a proven high end Gm like Presti or Myers from Golden State. And maybe a proven college coach like Tom Izzo or Pursue Jay Wright? But some big changes need to happen here because this will be three consecutive postseason collapses for us. :-?

Payne can blow by his guy and generate rim pressure. Something CP3 cannot. He did it once today and blew the layup and then spent the rest of the game having to chuck late 3s.

I also don't HATE the idea of Point Book with another wing

Paul was just ok this year (on occasion really good) when really healthy, so if he's hobbled, he probably won't be worth playing. Of course we don't have a backup PG. We have Craig instead (via Jalen Smith instead of Haliburton)

I did suggest targeting or trading for better guard depth and also size and rebounding. But we instead opted to roll with Ish and then ross. Hindsight being 20/20 it seems.

Hes not gonna wanna start over and coach in thr big leagues at age 67. At most we can get him as a "advisor role" where he can use his ability to find high school talent and can lead to getting some young kids that will drop in the draft.

Which would be just fine with me btw.

I even said pre draft I wouldn't be mad if we took him 10th in that draft where our first pick was, though people thought I was crazy. It's kind of weird we didn't take him considering we had worked him out twice.

I was at the game. It was pretty disappointing to see the Suns not the get same calls that the Nuggets got. 5 free throw attempts? Feel like the Suns were playing pretty aggressive. I don’t understand it.

KD had a lot of open looks. He missed them. He’s human. If he has somewhat an average game, the Suns win easily. The Suns defense was awesome.

The Suns are in big trouble without CP3. While he doesn’t give us what he used to, he’s still very important to the Suns success. The 4th quarter was tough to watch without him.

One game at a time.

For the record, the Nuggets fans are the worst fans in the leagues.

Yes, but he didn't specify it was only 7 game series. It's actually probably harder to come back wand win a best of 7 down 0-2 than a best of 5.

Can someone tell me what JJ was thinking trading Dario for Bazley and a 2029 pick?

I would understand it a bit more if the 2nd round pick was for next season but this pick is so far off in the future it has zero impact to the Suns winning now.

Bazley has also looked incredibly raw and not ready to contribute in the few minutes he's played so we got a worse player than Dario and no proven veteran to help play in these playoffs.

Return to Phoenix Suns
