Now if they sweep in the world series, this could be one of the greatest stories ever in baseball.
Go Rockies!

If they win, Id say one of the greatest stories ever in sports

Oh and Rockies owner: I doubt the Rockies fans are the best fans in the world but okay.

The people of Denver didn't even know the Rockies still existed until a month ago

But seriously...I think the long layoff and lack of experience will hurt them much like it did with Detroit last year.

And, kudos to Eric Byrnes. Say what you will at his numbers this series, but at least he always went full throttle. Every team would love to have a grinder like him.

Problem is, I still can't believe Arizona got this far with Byrnes being their best offensive threat. I mean, for all purposes, he was a bit of a journeyman. Either, their pitching was that good or the NL was really that bad.

Anyone else think the Rockies are gonna get steamrolled by the Indians or Red Sox?

Just like the Tigers steamrolled the Cardinals last year? Oh wait that's why they play the games isn't it.

EDIT: BTW The Rockies did take 2 out of 3 at Fenway earlier in the year beating Beckett and Schilling, so don't be surprised if the Rockies win the World Series. They have the talent and I think they will get it done.

I'm sorry, but what you did in June means nothing come post season time. I'm not saying I'm writing off the Rockies by any means, but it means very little.

You are missing the point, the Rockies won't be scared to play whoever in the World Series they did go into Fenway and took 2 of 3 and that is great for confidence when you don't play them that much. People are writing them off to whichever AL opponent and that is just silly Rockies will be ready to play.

I'll be the non-Byrnes guy. First of all, he opened his mouth and looked stupid. Swept in the NLCS, but somehow Arizona outplayed Colorado and just didn't get the breaks CO did.

Secondly, I don't buy his act. His stupid front-flip that he does when he throws it from the outfield, or running into the wall on the Holliday HR. I think a lot of it is a complete act.

I'm sorry, but what you did in June means nothing come post season time. I'm not saying I'm writing off the Rockies by any means, but it means very little.

For sure that's true, but keep in mind that it's Colorado who is red hot right now, it probably benefits them to look at the here and now and not June.

It'll be interesting to see. A lot of people think the Rox will get hammered by either AL team. I'd like to think that' not the case, but I by no means think they'll go without losing.

The chances of this team getting crushed in a 7 game set by "anybody" are nil, empty set, nada, zip, -0-, IMO, just not going to happen.

I believe my statement still stands. That said, i'd rather face the Red Sox in the W.S. IMO, the Rockies would roll on them bad. Yea they got a great 3-4 but that and their #1 pitcher are where any possible advantage would end. The Rock's are a much more complete team.

When looking to a Indians matchup, i think these are two much the same kind of teams. This would be a great series for those that believe in hard work, good management, and teamwork pays off in the long run. I still like the Rox, but in 6 or 7 games.

More than anything, i'll be glad if the Boston crew gets sent packing. Between the fans of both of the New York teams and Bostons, aside from a few on this site, their "we're better than you because we are" attitude, needed a reality check. I'm more than happy to see a series without any of those 3 teams, bigtime biased game anouncers, and their fans involved.

The Rockies are a more complete team than the Sox? Har-har? I'm sure our entire lineup could look great too playing at Coors.

Rockies away from Coors: .261 AVG/.336 OBP/.395 SLG
At home: .298/.372/.480

Stereotype?

The Red Sox are also much better at home (.297/.379/.465) than away (.262/.344/.424) although that is just batting average driven whereas the Rockies lose a significant amount of power away.

It's interesting that the Rockies pitchers don't perform any better away from Coors. 4.34 ERA at home, 4.29 ERA away. The Red Sox away have a ridiculous 3.59 TEAM ERA (4.13 at home).

The Red Sox are a more complete team, but they likely aren't even going to go to the World Series, so who cares.

Hey, I'm not a homer on this, just what i see these teams bringing to to park. I'm just a very interested outside observer but your attitude makes my case why i'll be glad if you guys get sent packing.

OK, i'll back up a tad. I said that the Rock's were a more complete team. Maybe i should have said that they are playing like a more complete team. I believe that 1-9, especially 5-9, the rockies have as good as or better of a lineup than Boston does. Also, this last quarter of the season, the Rox are playing great ball, better than Boston. If someone wants to pull team stats up, show what they have done lately. Then there is the selflesness on the Rockies that is pleasing and easy to enjoy.

You were infering that the rock's were good because because they played at Coors field. Absurd, there is no more advantage there for the Rox than the Yanks, Reds or Giants have at their home fields. Coors field is a tough place to play cause the Rox are a tough team to beat.

It seems most Boston fans always see clearly. They see their team as the best of everything and if they don't win, there's alway a whine and a excuse. Even though i think the Rox would have a easier time with Boston, i'm pulling for the Indians.
