Obviously a huge win for us, and a proof that can beat them. It can do wonders for our confidence now.. No need to dissect everyone's game now. Everybody needed to do exactly what they did in order to put us in a position to win it.

BUT, nothing is done yet. Celtics are very capable of winning on the road, so we now have a great opportunity to stay locked in going into G2.
G2 is as important as G1. We need to stay focused and try to win that one too. Celtics will obviously make adjustments so we need to be prepared to strike back.

Assuming Embiid misses Game 2, we really need Maxey and Harris to have big games, since we can't expect another 45 point outing from Harden again.

Doc said in post game a couple guys got into paul and it was borderline excessive. He said it could of went wrong but he took it well and turned it around.

I like how Doc threw that in there without being asked to let us know that he isn't the only one.

Fortunately the Celtics aren't even a pimple on the ass of that Lakers team.

And those Sixers were at full strength.

I love Harden's laser focus. There's no reason whatsoever that we can't win game 2 as well. It's not as if the Celtics played badly or "down to our level", but quite the contrary.

We took their best shot and I think it stunned them a bit that they couldn't shake us despite shooting lights out in the first half.

Should be the approach for game 2. Hang around, don't let the game get out of hand. If we're in it by the 4th we might have a shot.
Gotta love the focus and example set by Harden.

Lol

It was PJ and probably Harden when you look at the clip

Edit: Lol at Harden tapping on Reed's head at the end of the clip. I can see why Doc was saying it got to be a bit much. Think there might be something to, Doc saying that Harden was the one who didn't want Reed to play much last year. Glad things have changed now, but interesting dynamic to say the least. Wonder if it affects contract negotiations and Paul Reed getting resigned for next year.

I agree. I was referring to the improbable nature of the win and the Iverson/Harden performances

Does Timelord have some sort of minutes restriction due to injury? He was extremely effective in this one so I’ll be curious how the mins play out between him & Horford.

I think we can definitely win game 2. Maxey will hit more of his quality looks & Reed will be better on defensive rotations. I expect both teams to shoot worse but I feel like we have some obvious adjustments & missed opportunities.

It’ll be interesting to see how Boston tries to adjust their defense for game 2, assuming Embiid is still out. The obvious change might be more Robert Williams and less Horford, but that still doesn’t help them that much on the Harden switch. They could try to trap Harden a bit more.

On our side, we have to hope our ability to contain dribble penetration is more like the second half, not the first half.

To me the #1 key to success in game two will be Maxey. They are likely to throw the kitchen sink at Harden, and it should provide a ton of opportunities for Maxey, and Harris as well.

A 30+ spot from Maxey is almost imperative, and the fact that he got 26 on an off night bodes well.

Great win, Harden balled big time. I thought Maxey played good defense, and had a great 3rd quarter. He missed some 3s he usually makes, so i think he can have a nice series too. I was a bit worried with PJ Tucker bullying Paul Reed in the end of the game. It worked, but i dont know if that kinda behaviour is good in the long run. PJ played great defense, but he doesnt shoot, so i dont know if he should be criticizing other players...

From everything I've read, Paul is using it well, although it did give me pause to hear Doc talking about it, saying it was excessive. But if you read this article, it makes it seems like this happens to lots of players, and Doc just publicised it lol.

I was coming on here to post the same thing. I love this. "Hey yo this ain't no championship it's just one game...get your azz to the locker room now, there is still a lot of work to do!" Love it.

Charles Barkley has a lot of nerve. He said with all the switching in today's game it's easy for players to score in the situation that Harden found himself in at the end of the game. Hostile environment, your team is down, your taking a 3 point shot to win the game, a defender is on you. Yeah sounds really easy to me.

Harden has been selfish all year... I've been asking for him to shoot that midrange all year. That thing is a cheat code for him.

Harden is an analytics genius and plays 100% Moreyball. In the regular season when they call fouls, the midrange is not as efficient as going all the way to the rim.

Now in the playoffs where the refs swallow their whistles, midrange is often the best shot you get. So he's adjusted.

PJ is doing exactly what we need. This is why we got him. This is why we "overpaid" him.

Hubie Brown used to say NBA stands for No Babies Allowed. All season long I've been wondering just what is Tuckers role on this team. I forgot there is regular season PJ and playoff PJ. Tucker's role is to get in that ass if need be and make sure people are doing what they should. He is a veteran he has a ring. If Reed can't stand the heat then get the hell out of the kitchen. When Reed finally signs a big contract and is as tough as nails, when it counts the most. He will be thanking Tucker for helping him reach that level. Also props to Reed for hitting those free throws.
