I think I had the best performance of the night coming up with a rhyming thread title while wanting to jump off a building.

voted 'team' and 'Justin Jackson'

Have been away: how many posters turned in their fandom cards last night?
I'll admit: I thought about it. This **** is grueling. But might as well see how this series turns out first:)

is it heart, or is it brains? How does a team get a good shot when it needs to? I can't believe that I'm honestly asking that question because I haven't seen it in so long.

Tatum, with the game on the line, stretches out off of one foot, misses a layup at 30mph, pauses mid-air to put his hands up towards the ref, and falls 750 feet into the stands.
And that's the rare "good" possession.
My god.

As frustrating as this team can be to watch at times, I agree with Kenny on this take. It's a 7-game series for a reason. It's the playoffs where everyone is good. Should Boston have won that game last night? Absolutely! But they didn't. They didn't execute down the stretch. It took a 45-point miraculous effort from Fat Harden to win the game. Doubtful that Harden can sustain that type of effort throughout this series. Let's chalk that up as the Harden game and move on.

Here's what I know. Now that Philly stole game 1. They are likely to sit Embiid again in Game 2 for the extra rest. Boston will win game 2 easily. Embiid will be back for game 3 at home, but guess what? He still won't be 100%....But it'll take Philly some time to find their flow again. Boston wins game 3 as well. So regardless of what happens in Game 4, Boston at worst is coming back to Boston 2-2 in the series. Because Boston struggles to close out games, and because they struggle with consistency, I see this going 6 or 7.
Not going to panic. Again, it's all about winning and advancing. 2008 taught us this. 7 games against the Hawks. 7 games against the Cavs. 6 against the Pistons and 6 against the Lakers.

I disagree completely and agree with JWill. This is humiliating and it is time to panic. There is no reason this series should be coming back to Boston 2-2. And one big thing you forget about the 2008 team compared to this team. They were unbeatable at home. They only lost 1 game at home in the playoffs and that was by a point. Every other games were blowouts at home. It was frustrating they were not winning on the road but at no time did I ever think they were not in control of their own destiny. This team today is a s*** show.

Maybe the fans should stop comparing this team to the 08 or other teams of the past? Sounds like a fan issue. They aren’t those teams and while I’m bullish on this team and do think we will be back in the finals comparing this iteration to others is silly.

This is the 2023 Celtics…not reds. Not kg’s. Not your favorite Celtics team. Not your dads Celtics. Not cornbreads or Hondo’s. Their own squad. Last night was a brutal and humiliating loss but that’s all it was….one terrible loss. I’ll start to cry mope and stop watching when they lose 4x in a series.

They need to respond…big time. Believe they will.

Yeah, good points. I think another big thing with this team is we need to take a look at home has the ball in their hands at the end of the game. Tatum, for as great as he is, still struggles with consistency closing out games. Marcus Smart....same thing. He's the ultimate "NO! NO! YES!!!" player. JB is great, but when I think of him, I don't think "closer".
Tatum needs to be the guy to bring us home.

For Game 2 we need more out of Derrick White. He STUNK in game 1. We need more minutes for Timelord. We need the boys to play loose and have some fun. I still think we win the series in 6

FFS the nut shot was the least of the problems. Despite Tatum playing it for all it was worth. We know he's a drama queen to the max. He put more on it. You don't roll around like that from a nut shot. C;mon.

Last nite should've been a wakeup call. There should be focus and energy. That'll solve their problems going on awhile now regarding D. They score, but let the other team score too easily. I'll know in the first few minutes if they've gotten shocked enough to find a sense of urgency and focus they need. Because last night was bad bad hit. Lose the opener at home against a team without it's top guy is not **** good. Not at all.

Exactly. Having Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen (all 10 year vets and future hall of famers, all still playing at an all-star level, KG playing at an MVP and DPOY level, Pierce one of the best clutch players of all time) in there to close out a playoff game is not the same as 25 yr old Tatum, 26 yr old Brown and 29 yr old Smart in there to close out a playoff game.

Makes no sense to compare this team to the 2008 team.

That doesn't mean this team can't win the title.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

The block charge against Smart for Maxey’s three point play was the worst. Would have been three point lead and the ball with 1:30 to go. Bad call on the review.

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about Tatum's missed layup with nobody between him and the basket with 1:47 to go.

It was encapsulated in my Tatum was trash in the 4th Quarter post. 8-)

I really think both Jays go too hard at the rim sometimes. It's not always about how hard you go, but the quality of the shot. Also, he should.be dunking in those situations, but I think he's worried about landing on his left wrist if he takes hard contact that high.

Two minute report was not fun lol, it’s why I hate that they release it. Was a 5 point swing, game changing missed call. Was so obvious live, too, hell even Harden knew he fouled him.

Brad Stevens deserves a big piece of the blame pie. He didnt improve the roster enough and he hired a rookie to coach a team with championship aspirations. Along the way and in addition to numerous poor substituon decisions and losing 2 out of 4 home playoff games , joe also managed to turn grant and pritchard into complete non factors with Rob not far behind.boy would I love to have some young, energetic bigs but brad only wants soft, non athletic bigs who shoot the 3. So tired of waiting for tatum smart and brown to grow up . Joe hasnt helped in thst regard either. Just po’d at losing games we should gave won

 We've really been reduced to blaming the refs for a Playoff loss at home to a team missing the MVP of the league.

Us fans have had better days rooting for this team.

Never thought a 57-win team would drive us to this much anger, but, well, they have and it sucks

Just disappointment and annoyance for me…I’m too blessed in my life, too old with too much real **** going on to get real anger out of sports anymore. Definitely sucks we lost but I’m also confident we bounce back so this stuff passes for me quickly these days.

Return to Boston Celtics
