Who is the 3rd-best player on the '23 Lakers presently?

Wow, it's been a LONG time since I've made a thread with a poll.

I really don't think this is a provocative question, considering things like defense and consistency, etc. Probably it's not, though you just never know with any topic even tangentially related to LeBron (or his team).
So anyway.......thread/poll title.

It depends

Dlo is inconsistent this playoffs , when he’s having a good game it’s him, if he’s not being picked on on D, (and he’s not horrible on that end just against fast guards)

Reaves generally, esp end of regular season Reaves that was insane, but he isn’t getting the calls he did in the regular season

Vanderbilt had a great game but his impact is extremely matchup dependent, his offensively are pretty bad because he’s such a bad finisher too, and defensively he’s fantastic in some matchups and solid in others, so he can go from 4th-8th really

It’s not Dennis but Dennis has been amazing off the bench and is probably our best spark plugs, Reaves and Dlo can be a bit too hesitant. His defense is great and if he was a good three point shooter and passer he’d be by far our third best player imo

Look at the closing 5 of the Lakers the past 20 Games. AD, LeBron & Reaves have been the only consistent players to close out the games. Vando, DLo, Schroder and Rui have all been interchangeable depending on how well each played. Reaves has been insanely consistent for us, just overall basketball IQ wise he stands head & shoulders over the rest of our group.

Reaves is by far the most complete and consistent player on the list.

Reaves was the number three guy to close out the season and I think he's been very good throughout the playoffs thus far.

But this Lakers team is a bit of an ensemble, so the gap between the 3rd and 6th contributor probably isn't very big.

I think it really depends on the game, they're just looking for the hot hand.

But if you mean best in a vacuum I think it's D'Angelo.

I feel, however, their defense is winning games. And Vanderbilt is making is having huge impact on that side of the floor.

Normally with this kind of question, I'd check numbers or something, but as soon as I saw the title I just thought "isn't it obviously Austin Reaves?" Glad to see that the consensus so strongly agrees with me.

In this Warriors series, I think the second most valuable player for the Lakers behind AD is actually Vanderbilt.

I personally was thinking it's Reaves, but I was sure I'd get more pushback, particularly from the D'lo camp.

I'm sort of surprised to see Reaves running away with the poll by a long shot.

One thing with Reaves is that a bad Reaves game is more quiet than anything else while a bad dlo game actually hurts

My line of thinking would be this.

D'Lo and Vanderbilt are mirrors of each other [D'Lo helps the O and hurts the D, Vanderbilt helps the D and hurts the O].

Reaves is close to D'Lo offensively but defensively he is leaps ahead of D'Lo.

As others have said, Reaves is more grounded, plays well within the system/units and has natural synergy.

I can't say I really see it yet, but I love Reaves composure out there for such a new guy. He's just an incredible find by the Lakers, and this is on the back of Caruso. It really feels bizarre because the Lakers have never really been known for scouting or fringe player development.

Lakers have drafted well with late/undrafted players over the years Reaves/Caruso/Kuzma/Nance/Hart/Gasol hard to get good players when your rarely in the lottery. Even their first round picks: Ingram was the right choice, Randle was solid, Russel could have been Booker but a lot of teams passed up on him, and Lonzo was the biggest fumble but he was Magic's guy.
