I wish we would protect Embiid movement wise by playing him with Reed (especially against Rob Williams lineups) but I don't think we are comfortable breaking that out without trying it in the regular season.
The Celtics do make him move more than most teams on defense. Given elevated re-injury risk I don't like how that feels.

If we win with Embiid dropping 30pts and looking like MVP, we’d be Vegas favorite for championship right?

My brother in Christ, I don't know why but I think he's a shoe in for MVP.

Oooh shieeet, it's about to go down!
Him playing tonight makes me both anxious and psyched.
Anxious because I'm sure he isn't 100%, but he is probably so pumped right now that he wants to play at all costs. I just hope it doesn't backfire for him and the team.
Psyched because the Celtics probably didn't expect that and prepared the gameplan without Jo on the floor. Which gives us a great chance to take G2 on the wings of the confidence and positive energy this team has right now.

Yea, I think if we win tonight in any fashion Vegas would have us as favorites.

Very curious to see how Embiid looks tonight. I assume there is no risk of reinjury or further injury if he's cleared to play.
Likely need to limit his mins perhaps under 30, so Reed should still get significant time.

To clarify, I think if we win tonight we would have higher Vegas odds than other teams (I’m sure Vegas thinks Denver beating LA / GS is no guarantee). That said, you would still take the field obviously.

Listening to Joel's press conference. Said that there is a possibility he plays "just like there was a possibility for G1" but he will "listen to what doctors have to say and if they clear him to play"... So I guess it will be a game time decision.

I feel like that was an underreported thing last game, especially after the Hamlin situation in the NFL last year.
Personally, I think Smart is detrimental to their team right now so probably an addition by subtraction for them.

These are the kinds of games where personnel and Xs and Os hardly matter. Pride will prevail.
Why do coaches get paid millions if their game plan doesn’t matter in a critical playoff game?
Certainly you don't think only one of the two teams' head coaches is getting paid well?

Yes and no. The PnR is back on the menu with Embiid and if we put Al Horford and any non-Smart guard in the torture chamber, they're gonna have a bad time.

Don't you know? Basketball is not a sport, it's a mental battle, planning and tactics are for losers
When talent between teams is very much equal, as it is in the second round and beyond, emotional factors rule the day.

Yeah, obviously. Match-ups, mismatches, startegies, and calls don't matter, it's the will, and if i wanted with all my heart the ball automatically goes thru the basket.
Sorry if i'm blunt but opinions like this are born of not being able to analyze what you see while watching the game.

Yes, so presumably both coaches are important actors that will influence the outcome of the game through strategy, adjustments, rotation decisions, etc. If coaches were irrelevant to the outcome of playoff basketball games, then they’d just hire one of us to sit there for $15/hr.

It is very rare for a team with home court advantage in an NBA playoff series to lose their first two games at home. Since the NBA introduced the 7-game series format in 2003, only three teams have lost the first two games at home and gone on to win the series: the 2005 Memphis Grizzlies (vs. San Antonio Spurs), the 2017 Cleveland Cavaliers (vs. Golden State Warriors), and the 2018 Boston Celtics (vs. Cleveland Cavaliers).
