That's thinking a wee bit too far out of the box for Glenn.

Jaylen Brown doesn't need stopping. He needs to be part of the game plan. Get him driving and taking contested shots on Embiid in the paint. Prevent the other guys from shooting outside and be mindful of the back door cuts.
Switch everything defense. Keep Embiid in the paint as much as possible.

Springer has been given the Paul Reed treatment. With that being said, you can count on him being in the rotation next season. If nothing else, they'll use him the same way the Warriors use Gary Payton jr.

What are you on about? Brown is killing us. Embiid can’t protect the paint or the outside when Harden/Maxey/Tobi/Tucker is your protection.
We got opened up every time Brown touched the ball.
You can’t switch either because who are you going to switch to it’s BBQ chicken every time.

Re: Playoffs!?
honestly I'd try to just stay home and force them to create shots.
Most of the 3s happen when we over help on the drives... a tough layup or contested jumper might hurt in the moment but its better than those back breaker 3s and guys getting into a rhythm....but as stated above easier said than done with Maxey who dies on every screen, Tobias whose brain most begin thinking about books mid play, and Harden whose genius only function with the ball.

It's funny though not hugely surprising that the first two games of the Lakers-Warriors series are almost a mirror image of our series with the Celtics. According to some here, the Lakers might as well just pack it up and forfeit the series.

Easy to say now. But i’ve said it in G1. I feel Lakers style of play is obsolete. The climb for them is harder than other teams. But this is the warriors, so i could be wrong.

Re: Playoffs!?
We're gonna have to out-shooting them, they have the best spacing on the entire league and with Embiid parking they're basically gonna just take a stupid amount of 3s.
The issue is the same as always, Tobias, Melton and Tucker overhelp too much and this is a match up were you just cannot go overhelp, again, Boston has the best spacing on the entire league. This is in part why zone worked so well the second half of the first game.
Still, you're a victim of variance on cases like this, Boston is 27-2 when they shot over 40% from 3 and something like 29-27 or similar when they shot below 40%. You have to commit to good contests and stay glued to shooters, leave the worst one open by design if necessary.
The problem right now is not the defense, it's actually the offense, IMO.
Obviously, Embiid is not 100%, but that makes playing Tucker more difficult. If PJ comes from the corner to screen for Harden, Boston is gonna involve him on the play and stay on Harden so he has to make the pass to PJ. If Joel isn't aggresive on offense that reduces our spacing by virtue of already having a nonthreat in PJ on the floor.
To me it looked pretty obvious Boston prepared their game plan for Joel previous to the series, they had a lot of pre-planned rotations and tactics in place, he not playing the first game probably throw their entire game plan away. For example, they tried several possessions by putting Smart on Joel when he was closer to the wings so after the ball rotated you could not get a switch.
Harden also needs to attack Brown more often if he's gonna be his primary defender, tire him at least. What you cannot allow is Brown effectively defending you and then also being great on offense

They lost to us when Brown missed a total of 2 shots in 40+ minutes. He goes missing at times. He’s a good player, but he’s not killing us. It was everyone else. Rotations on defense is more important than game planning for Brown, lol.

Agree
Ya’ll better keep up with the new NBA. Its about pick your poison. A math game. Battle of number of possessions and points per possessions. You can’t lock all doors and windows.

Jaylen Brown and Tatum scored a combined 33pts in G2. Defense on those two were not the problem.

Re: Playoffs!?
Anyone else find it a bit unfair that Miami and New York have 3 days off in between games while we only have one? Mind you the Celtics have the same amount of rest as we do but in our case, the extra days off would benefit us more.

Re: Playoffs!?
There's too much of a narrative on defense. It's offense that's more important to winning the series. Need to play with more pace because most of Boston's transition 3s come as a result of late shot clock bad shots or foul grifting attempts by Harden, Maxey, or Embiid that leaves us 4v5 when they fall. We are getting murdered on those 4v5s. I feel like we take better shot attempts earlier in the clock and that keeps us from bad stuff in transition. Embiid's re-integration made us play too slow temporarily. Got to get back to quicker and faster decision making.

We would’ve had the same if Atlanta hadn’t forced game 6 against Boston.

Yeah, it's a double edge sword because the league right now is trying to fix the schedule so all the series end at similar moments.
If Boston beated Atlanta in 5 or 4 we would be having more rest days but also would have started playing earlier.
