They weren't lottery teams at least. He contributed to play off teams, so that says something too. Granted those teams have stars but we have one and we're looking for another... Just saying, he's a huge guy and we lack size. Plus he has a proven NBA skill, rebounding. He'd also set some devastating screens for Dame.

Re: Summer 2023 Trade Thread
Would Milwaukee trade Giannis for Simons, Sharpe, and Wemby? I would do it in a heart beat. I don't understand the sacrifice the future mentality when Dame, Giannis and ring chasers get you to the finals. I don't care how good Sharpe and Wemby will be in 4 years when we could win a ring now.
Dame/Rose?
Thybulle/Nas/LeVert?
Grant/Winslow
Giannis/Watford
Nurkic/Love
I think that team could win a title.

I think they would at least pick up the phone. Thats one hell of a package.
If we made that move and didnt end up winning a ring, it could go down as a franchise killer.

Re: Summer 2023 Trade Thread
I would gladly send Simons to Orlando for the #11 pick and Harris.
I would send #23 and #43 to Chicago for the Blazers own pick back.
I would see if Indiana would trade Turner for Nurkic, 2024 & 2026 First Round Pick (top 10 protected).
I would see if Boston would trade Pritchard for two 2nd Round Picks.
I would see if Utah would trade Maarkanan for Harris (non-guaranteed contract), #5, #11, and 2028 First Round Pick.
MLE - JaMychal Green 2/$9M per year
TPE (S&T) - Dennis Scroder 2/$8M per year with 3rd Year Player Option
Re-sign Grant, Thubulle, and Winslow
PG Lillard / Schroder / Pritchard
SG Thybulle / Sharpe / Johnson
SF Grant / Little / Winslow
PF Maarkanan / Green / Walker
_C Turner / Eubanks / Watford

Re: Summer 2023 Trade Thread
I really like Simons to ORL for #11, I’d add a srp or a future late frp (DEN 25) and a load of cap space. Alternatively, could include Isaac (and #11 only), who, if healthy, is an amazing fit and defensive game-changer. If not healthy, not fully guaranteed.
I know POR is win-now, but I imagine packaging 2 lotto picks could bring in a prize vet.

Re: Summer 2023 Trade Thread
I would want a little more than just the 11th pick for Simons. I would also ask for the 36th pick as well. One of the problems Portland has had the last few years is the lack of 2nd Rd picks that could have been used to draft projects and/or depth ( especially among big men).
As to trading the 23rd pick I only do that if I have a follow up trade where we need flexibility with our picks otherwise I want to use that pick on someone like Clowney, Lively or Nnaji.

Love it. Thats a ring team for sure.
Thats a squad worth mortgaging the future for.
Dont think Utah moves Lauri though.

Yeah, I don't think so either. I'm just not sure what PF the Blazers could go after.

Could simply remove the protection on the pick which should complete the trade next year. That limits the number of future picks available for trade. Would any of the teams with multiple first round picks be willing to sell one for $5M cash instead? They used to do that a lot back in the 90's, but you don't really see that happen anymore.

Ring-Ring
DALLAS?
I was just seeing Woods being mentioned as a F/A this summer, and I'm very quickly warming to the idea of bringing him in, to pair with Eubanks for minutes at the C. We'd be a super fast, small-ball team always, but considering how small many other teams are going right now, with the right style, starting 5 and smart player rotations by Chauncey........... IDK.
What if we at the very least just called Dallas? I'd simply ask them if they had ANY interest in Nurkic, and see what they say. Looking at their current roster, I actually think they might. I think I would ultimately try to S&T Woods at the same salary as Nurkic, but on a 2+1. Could that be done, and does anyone else think he could be THE GUY? Definetely maybe, I think.
Winslow again is the obvious X factor here, and the small-ball style of course. Just spit-ballin' mostly but: Woods / Winslow / Grant / Sharpe / Dame looks really fun to me, and Eubanks / Watford / Little / Thybulle / Simons 6-10 also looks really strong to me, just kinda small. But what if we make up for it in: Style of play?

On second thought, If we were to add Woods (getting warmer), I think it would make good sense to offer Winslow no more than the vet min knowing he'd likely walk. Regardless, if we could pull off the above, I would then use our FRP (I'm feeling it'll be #2) to get Mark Williams, and use the NYK pick on another good C like a Jalen Smith. He would be an excellent get I think to fill out what would be IMO a dream off season Add as many SRPs as needed to get the two big fellas and we get this, with very little change:
Dame / Simons / (Mays or Keon)
Sharpe / Thybulle
Grant / Little / Knox
Woods / Watford / Walker
Williams / Eubanks / Smith

It would take a GM with a lot of security to make such a move for it reminds me of those old circus movies
where the guy is trying to make a triple summersault on the high wire without a net. Any GM who pulled
off this trade and it failed, would be sitting in the stands with the fans.
The safe move would be to keep Simons, Sharpe and Victor for that team would be good for at least 6 years.

I don't think that any team will outright sell first round picks though cash and high seconds might do the trick. If nothing else I would start buying future seconds as I said earlier those are the picks to gamble with projects or depth pieces or add value in trades. In this draft I want size and power. If we are at 5 or below and don't use the pick in a trade I want Parker or Hendricks unless Simons is traded for a big( even then I would still prefer a big as depth there has been a big problem the last few years). We need to develop our own Mikal Bridges, OG or Siakam instead of overpaying for someone like Covington or Nance and being disappointed.

I would simply offer Woods the MLE, retain Nurk and Eubanks and draft big men with all three of our picks. We need depth among our big men as well as talent. Btw do players we place on the G league team count against our roster limit?

I'd trade Wemby for Giannis, because it makes us legit contenders for a few years. Especially if Dame ages well. And Giannis is only 28. Though I don't think we need to include Sharpe in the package. Wemby is supposed to be one of those once in a decade prospects.

I doubt they would trade Wemby for Giannis straight up plus you need matching salary. As much as I wouldn’t want to trade Sharpe or even Wemby for that matter, it would take a deal like that to secure a 2 time mvp in his prime. Pairing Dame and Giannis would win a championship, i have zero doubt about that. Imagine how good Dame would be if defenses had to focus on Giannis and vice versa.
As for being a franchise killer, theres no such thing. We’d sucks for 3 or 4 years tops. We already sucks the last 2 years, it would be worth it to get to the finals 2 or 3 times. If something bad happened, we could still sell off Giannis for a good haul if we thought he was going to walk.
