To me Philly is the real rival too. I grew up in and around LA, so I can't really hate the Lakers. And I started as a Celtics fan Bird's rookie year, so Philly was as much of a threat as LA was.

yeah the defender was closing out so tight on him. typically that's where you fake the shot and then either drive or kick it out.

but it worked out.

helps being 6'9" with a high release point on your shot - you can hit those even with a defender closing out hard - it was a smaller defender.

I sometimes think NBA coaches overthink this. If he fouls out, he fouls out. You can go to this lineup at that point. Taking him out now only GUARANTEES he will play fewer minutes. These minutes leading up to the very end are still important, you'

Refs are doing their best to keep the sixers in the game. ticky tack touch fouls against the Celts, and we are getting pounded on and nothing. The refs do realize this game is recorded for viewing later don't they?
