Re: OT: General OT Thread [NO POLITICS, RACE OR RELIGION]
We had friends with a kid over for like 2 hours, and I just don't know how you guys do it 24/7/365/18+. He's such a good kid, too; I can't even imagine if he was a hellion. But I'm exhausted and feel like every surface in the house needs to be cleaned.

I don't like most people's kids and don't know how teachers do it. No wonder twirls is how he is.MikeIsGood wrote:We had friends with a kid over for like 2 hours, and I just don't know how you guys do it 24/7/365/18+. Winner take all. The Admirals had already lost a game in the series giving up the tying goal late (53 seconds left in game 2 and lost in OT) and gave up the tying goal in this game with 1:57 left. I was not optimistic.

You learn the I'm listening but I'm not really listening very quickly and your first year you're sick for 6 months and basically run on *insert your favorite cough medicine and decongestant here* until you can build up an immunity to all of their ****.

You must learn their language, too. Whenever a kid says something I just look at the parents with void in my eyes and wait for a translation.

More importantly it gave me a reason to finally buy a boning knife. It just arrived and I am excite.
This was shockingly good. Wouldn't change a thing about it. I marinated the chicken a day ahead, but you probably don't need to. Will absolutely be making this all summer.

7" reach difference in this main event. Jesus. Cejudo still the betting favorite as the challenger.

Sterling won that and it wasn't close. Getting huge boos.

Sterling is such an underappreciated great. He’s had some “close” wins but he is still winning. Wins over Cejudo, Yan, Sandhagen, Dillashaw, Munhoz, Rivera, etc. #1 all time in 135 wins in the UFC. He still hasn’t won over the fanbase but at some point he’s gotta get some credit.

Starting a new job tomorrow for the first time in a decade. Really weird feeling to be walking into something totally new and not be the well-engrained expert, and one of the longer-tenured employees. Super excited, just weird.

He was great defensively last night but that fight was 100 percent very close round 3 was pretty close and the decider for me.

Ask as many dumb questions as you can. You may look like an idiot now, but imagine if someone asks you "why do you do that?" when you have not f-ing clue 1-year in.

1. With all the money that goes into breeding and training, how the hell are there not faster horses?
2. Race was actually pretty damn close and you can't tell which one was Secretariat until the final stretch.
You're right, Secretariat was a freak of nature, who ate other horses up over the last quarter of a mile.
It was absolutely the Belmont that cemented Secretariat as the GOAT.

Its just a different level when it's your kid. The good and the bad. My daughter is awesome but I'm almost always tired and cleaning up. That said, I wouldn't trade it for the world as much as I miss certain things from pre-kid life. Not for everyone though, that's for sure.
That's why days like today where my brothers and my dad all went up north to open my parents cabin. Guys day was so necessary. Mental health days become even more valuable after kids.
Congrats on the new job!

I'll never get over hockey players refusing to wear visors and/or a cage. Dallas just gave up a goal because a defenseman caught a puck to the face and crumpled to the ice. After the puck ricocheted off his face, Seattle guy had an easy goal.

"The good and the bad". FOR SURE. Weekends...man. The cleaning up is unreal on the weekends. I feel like I spend half my time cleaning up on the weekends. After meals, cleaning up toys, outside. It's just a swath of destruction in their wake. And I nag a lot but don't want to overdo it. Fine line between getting them to learn to clean up for themselves and being a grouch. But yes, wouldn't trade it for the world.

Re: OT: General OT Thread [NO POLITICS, RACE OR RELIGION]
I got a sandwich for lunch at a boutique cheese and deli shop that has a variety of condiments and pickled goods and jarred mixes. While I was waiting I saw a jar of powdered bloody mary mix. A couple tablespoons of the stuff, add water and vodka, you have a bloody. Never heard of a powdered mix so I picked up a 6 ounce jar. Get up to check out and the damn thing cost $23! I should have put it back.
Anyway, I looked at the ingredient list:
Tomato powder
Worcestershire powder
Celery salt
Crystalized lemon
Cayenne pepper
Literally all there is. The only one I don't have is tomato powder, and I'm fixing that today. I can't believe I spent $23 on about $1.50 worth of ingredients.
