Scoot's sisters played college ball and his dad coached. His parents have a charity that provides recreation for disadvantaged children. Steph Curry is mentoring Scoot on building a brand and on implementation of a professional training regimen. Steph too is big on giving back to the community. Of course Steph's father played for the Hornets and announces games.
The Curry family, Ball family and Scoot family are all basketball families.
I think the writing is on the wall and that media took Kupchak's words out of context lottery night. They asked the GM if he would select a point guard and he said definitely, no question. He looked excited and enthusiastic. Elevated even. But then he walked back his response and qualified it by saying the Hornets can be picky about positional fit.
The media discarded the first part of his answer which was revealing, and ran with the latter comment. They've been generating clicks off it ever since.
