Absolutely. I've been on the Bufkin train for a while, glad to see he's getting the respect he deserves.

I don't know if he ends up in the lottery but I think he has the tools and skills to be a good player at the next level.

Was hoping to scoop him up in the 20s but that might not be possible anymore.

That means that he doesn't know if Bufkin as a prospect is deserving of a lottery pick as opposed to being selected in the early 20s, not that the Raptors have no shot at him. His entire post implies that Bufkin will likely be available for the Raptors to select, just that he wanted to take him in the 20's prior to people realizing he is worth taking earlier.

Some of the weirdness with him is he's big and strong and doesn't draw contact and doesn't take a lot of paint shots. He's just a straight high volume high usage black hole jump shooter. More of a weapon than a hub.

That's one way of looking at it. Another way of looking at it, is that he's arguably the best pure scorer in the entire draft that includes Victor Wembenyama. It's all in the eyes of the beholder.

It's not about development though, it's projection. Decent free-throw volume and over 84% free-throw percentage in college is a solid indicator that someone will be a good shooter in the NBA. In Bufkin's case, it's absolutely worth taking the bet that his shooting percentages will be better in the NBA

I’m not sure why you’re so caught up on Bufkin becoming a better shooter when that was never brought up as an issue. I simply posted statistics indicating that Alexander is currently a better shooter, which are facts. It was never said nor implied that Bufkin is or will be a bad shooter.

That is great if true. If he doesn’t go at 8 or 9 to Washington or Utah, I could see him slip a bit.

I think he’s going to be a solid pro but it seems like his floor is high but his ceiling is low. I have a lot of respect for his game but not a lot of excitement. He appeals to my rational thinking but he doesn’t give me butterflies.

Not sure if that makes any sense. If he went to Raptors at 13 I’d hope they could get another pick to take a swing on Coulibaly or someone with incredible upside (read: boom-bust potential).

I disagree about his ceiling, he's an extremely versatile player who impacts so many areas which is what you want from a player. The thing that stands out the most to me is how tough he is. Looks like the kind of player who will absolutely never back down and who is built to last during long playoff runs. When you can get a read on a kid's mental state which is usually very difficult it's huge. I really believe Wallace is just a tenacious competitor and that will drive his value up no matter what.

Ideal draft imo short of fluking into the top 4 again (assuming only Gary is traded as rumoured, let's say Lakers 17th, who've been rumoured to want him for awhile now)...

Bufkin's rim rate of 71% is pretty insane for a guard. His jump from fresh to sophmore was impressive and the analytics back it up. Our team is dying for some solid guard play. Kid is in play at #13

James Nnaji is a guy definitely on Masai's radar.

C, 6'10 with 7'5 wingspan. High defensive potential, raw offensive skill, and will still be 18 when the draft happens.

He's an interesting prospect if we can snatch a late 1st or early 2nd in a draft day deal.

Pairing him with Koloko for backup C minutes behind Poeltl should help solidify the centre position, and allow us to make deals to improve other areas of the team. Like...every other position.
