I know this thread's going to be filled with the usual torrents of golden showers by all the usual pissers but I was encouraged by the growth I saw. Missed open shots in the beginning DIDN'T lead to head hanging and poor D and the team stayed chipping away and got the tie. The refs were frustrating in the 1st quarter as well, not a lot of whining and getting distracted by it. Tatum couldn't throw it in the ocean and the 1st half but man did he rebound and play some D and he was masterful in the second half. As for not taking a timeout IDGAF at all, Harden and Joel both were dead on their feet and you know the play is going to be give it to Tatum and let him make the right play. Why give Philly a break and let them game plan defensively?

Good comeback against a good team, within about a quarter of a second of being a great win.

This is all true, but we've still pissed away at least one game so far in this series, there could always be another coming, and it's not out of the question Philly wins one with a strong effort from Embiid.

We did come very close to overcoming extremely biased officiating and some bad shooting luck, so I'm hopeful. It's just extremely frustrating that the Sixers have something like a 30% chance of taking the series when we're by far the better team and should be up 3-1 by now.

The Celtics late game execution will never improve with Tatum and Smart running the offense late. And it's impossible to win a championship with poor late game execution. So everybody needs to lower their expectations until Smart is traded, benched late game or we have a coach willing to call the offense late.

Where exactly did Smart screw up here? He was passed two shots with the clock running down and shot them/made one of them.

He shouldn't have been on the floor. Call the timeout and get your 3rd best crunch time scorer of the regular season into the game (White).

Bad pass to horford leading to a steal. Walking the ball casually like the game is tied lol. That’s poor situational awareness and overall bbiq right there, especially for a point guard.

Wasn't Tatum dribbling the clock down on the last play? I may be mis-remembering. That steal was a killer though but wasn't what got us.

all of it got us. tatum got it in a weird spot with like 6 secs IIRC, after smart ran it down. really doesn't matter, joe should have used a t/o. brown shouldn't have helped off harden. we could have had a 3 by al to extend the lead. blah blah blah, I can think of 10 things we didn't do well. We can all piss and moan about the late game stuff but at the end of the day we got home court back and it took an absolute herculean effort at home for Philly to squeak out a win. We are in great shape.

No reason to dwell on it. On to the next game. We are headed home tied 2-2. We got home court back. We should be up at least 3-1 but all you can do is tighten up and win the next one.

Never have seen the value in dwelling on a loss.

That’s completely irrelevant to this year and today. The series is 2-2. It’s literally anyones series on paper at this point in theory. I don’t agree with that necessarily and still think we win but come on man lol….yes agree to disagree

Couple of other thoughts about the game.

1. Sixers did a great job of moving Jaylen Brown off of Harden by screening him early. Brown was hardly on Harden at all when Harden was scoring. By my count Harden had 7-9 points when Brown was guarding him (Including the mistake in the final seconds for that 3). Celtics need to adjust.

2. I would love to see more Tatum/Brown two man game on offense instead of Tatum/Smart. Especially in the 4th quarter.

3. Celtics have to go quicker on that last possession when you are down. Give yourself a chance for an offensive rebound if someone misses. Celtics were down 1 point. Go quicker then play the free throw game

If you go early and miss, you can still foul and have another chance for a 3 to tie the game. I just thought that entire sequence was terrible. Especially after seeing Tatum dagger us earlier in the year on that annoying run up play.
