He wants to stay in Toronto, But:
- they have to compete, if they rebuild he is gone
- the money has to be what he is worth. This might be his only chance to get a big payday. So the 15 mil Number is bogus. It is what he turned down in San Antonio. Anything beneath 20 Mil would be a surprised.
- the new coach seems to be an important part for him

Its in German, so i doubt it will help much.

If only google had translations. :D

Just kidding, you're under no obligation to post it.

We would have fared off a lot better with a stretch big man instead of Poeltl. We have major shooting issues.

It's great JP can do all he does but if you can't shoot in NBA you aren't going to be anything more than a glorified role player.

I'm not sure what interview is being referenced above, but that is not an accurate representation of what he says in the below article:

https://www.heute.at/s/nba-star-poeltl-beim-kickerl-im-freibad-bin-ich-dabei-100269551#Echobox=1683209143

-He says his goal is to win a title, and is always has been.
-would be happy to resign with Toronto
-Money is not the primary factor - playing situation, coaches, and the City are more important.

You are sourcing a Newstablet, that is known for disinformaton and very bad journalistic standards.
So no wonder you get it wrong on the information.

Here is a link to a proper News Organization. The important part would be the Video cause it would be his own words, but i dont know if outside of Austria you can watch it.

https://sport.orf.at/stories/3111327/

To summarize the video:

- In the video he cleary states, the construction of the roster is important for him. He wants to go the playoffs.
- He is talking about 3 to 4 years contract at this stage of his career, though the overall package has to be right/fitting/good , which probably includes the salary.
- He is also talking about the importance of the new coach.

In Print, he goes deeper on Becky Hammon as a coach in a positive way.

I trust his own words more, than a printed version.

You know the main culprit missing the playoffs was NOT the 3point shooting. It was poor playmaking and poor BB decision with a coach that clearly had no interest anymore.

He has all the leverage due to us dealing our pick. If his agent doesn’t get him $20m he should look for new representation

Here a second link, also in german. In this article they are presumptive that he will get back to Toronto, but it also is mentioned the 20mil per year figure.

Delete the thought of us selling off everything and tanking.

What's left are running it back with same group or making 1-2 big CORE changes but getting decent talent in return

Jak is a lock for either scenario

That’s what posters and pundits don’t get. There will be no tank so trading OG for 3 protected or late first round picks will never happen.

We were close if not dead last in three point shooting. That was definitely the biggest issue we had. Our PG shot under 40% (FG) and 34% (3pt). If we fix those problems we would be a 6th seed similar to the Knicks.

Replace Fred with a strong shooter like Kennard even makes a big difference. We need to run the offense through Barnes like he's Jokic. If that is neutralized we can do the same with Siakam.

The most I would pay for Jak is 20 a year for 3. Preferably we can get him for 15 or less. Watching this year's playoffs, unless you're Jokic or Embiid the center position just doesn't warrant that much of your cap space. Looney making 8 mil a year and Landale making the minimum giving their teams quality minutes mean paying too much for center just leaves the team with a huge disadvantage. Not saying Jak isn't much better than these guys, but for less than 30 min a night he shouldnt be making double and triple than what some of these cheap guys are making.

How many teams even need a starting Center of Poeltl's skill? We were bidding against ourselves at the deadline and might do it again in free agency.

I hope Masai locks him up to a reasonable deal based on this. 4/70 should be the most and I'm hoping 4/65 is what gets it done.

Yep. It's amazing how badly Masai has pigeonholed himself with all these moves he made in the last 2-3 seasons. People actually defended this **** all season long.

Most recent comparable would be Allen's 5/100, Capela's 2/46, Myles Tuners' 2/60.

The Raps probably go with a 3-4 year deal to bring the average salary down.
