WYD?

First of all I think there are a lot more motivated teams to trade the #1 pick than SA. But any deal for me would need more than just Wemby for Giannis and I certainly wouldn’t include Jrue unless heavily incentivized.

A lot currently riding on Denver and whether their current core is good enough to finally get over the hump, plus they're currently on the hook for a massive luxury tax bill ($170 million payroll for just 10 rostered players as of now). If Middleton opts in, I think Denver would look long and hard at the cost benefit of getting off MPJ's contract for a $40 million expiring. I'd be exploring something where we're getting a younger but flawed blue-chip talent over a lot of these proposed ideas where we're simply gaining cap flexibility and a few picks.
I would understand the gamble but oh my would MPJ drive this fan base absolutely insane.

A complete teardown would never happen. What's even the plan when we don't own the rights to any of our 1st round picks until 2028?

Indeed. You can't tank if you don't have any picks.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I think the plan would be the Nets route. Wemby and what ever we get for Jrue and Midds S&T is a decent start.

I'm not in favor of it, but if you have extension talks with Giannis and you get the vibe he's gone you have to re-evaluate. Do you roll back a maxed out salary team that only won 8 playoff games the past 2 years that is on the decline knowing Giannis is gone in 24 months? Or do you do a hard reset with a generational raw talent and no long-term salary commitments?

Here is what I would do. Everything listed is close enough to make work somehow with filler either way. Assuming opt ins in some circumstances or S&T situations. Coach - I go get Shaka.

Milwaukee Bucks Offseason

Keep:
Giannis 46M
Bobby 11M
PC 9M 3yr
GA 9M
Marjon – 2.6 (3yr)

Sign and Trade:

Khris Middleton S&T (3/90) to ORL – Markelle Fultz (17M) and 2025 FRP Top 5 protected
Brook Lopez to Golden State (2/45) – Green (27M), 2023 FRP, 2025 FRP (top 15 protected)
Trade

Jrue Holiday – Houston – Jalen Green, 2025 FRP Houston (top 5 protected) 2023 FRP Nets
Sign Cheaper alternatives – from current team
Javon Carter (PO) – Decline / Sign 2yr 12M
Cheaper alternative – from other teams
Luka Garza – acquire from wolves (minimum) or give 2/8, 3/12

Lineup + Assets acquired
Fultz, Jalen Green, Pat C, Giannis, Draymond Green
Bench: Grayson, Bobby, Marjon, Javon Carter, Luka Garza
FRP: GS 2023, Nets 2023
Let Walk
Thiannis
Wes
Goran
Joe Ingles
Jae Crowder

I dont work at Fed Ex, but this gets them younger, cheaper, and no real long term contracts to navigate if they suck together. If Giannis wants out next season.. it pretty much clears the way for an entire rebuild as well with a young core of draft capital + Jalen Green / Marjon.
Khris Middleton - Beating up on Trash Can Teams since 1943. Invisible Man status otherwise.

I love Brook but are you saying you think he gets us Draymond Green and 2 first round picks?

3 moves to a Ring

1. Sign Nick Nurse
2. Sign&Trade Khris for Kyrie
3. Trade Jrue for DeRozan

This is ideal for my taste of a Big 3.
We get better at ... handles, scoring, 3pt shooting, they can both close the game, make FTs and are both motivated to win a Ring.

I wouldn't want Draymond Green at all. If the Bucks are running it back, other then maybe trading Allen,Pat,Bobby. I like my trade of Allen,Pat,Bobby to Cavs for Allen, Rubio, Merrill. It's not the greatest. But get playmaker PG in Rubio. Young centerin Allen but paid like $20M. Also get Merrill back.

We have a tiny leverage on offering Khris a bigger contract instead of team X signs him as a free agent. We could lose him for nothing. We need a similar player/contract ... Horst needs to find a similar player/situation

Hypothetical player Kyrie would be awesome. Nutso actual Kyrie would likely be a disaster.

I wouldn't trade Giannis for Wemby (or anyone) unless I'm honoring a trade request. Giannis should retire a Buck and go down as a rare single-team legend like Duncan, Kobe and Dirk.

Giannis is still the best player in the league. Hilarious that anyone would entertain the idea of trading him for Wemby. I know it's the off-season and maybe it's just a ''throw it out there thing for **** & giggles'' thing, but come on...lol

If we get a coach who finally tells Giannis to stop shooting 3's and stop barrelling into people, Giannis is going to create a decent gap between him & Joker & Embiid.

Didn't you hear? He's back to Giannis Westbookunmpo.

82 games is a hell of a lot of games for a guy like Wemby who's already had issues with stress fractures. In no way am I saying I wouldn't take him #1, but definitely wouldn't trade Giannis for him.
