Not likely.
As bitter as some people are around here, Embiid could lead the 76ers to 3 straight playoff runs of 16-0 and they still wouldn't concede him as the best center let alone best player.
If he did that he’d be doing something unprecedented 3 times in a row. So yes he’d probably be regarded as the GOAT. Please don’t let your own bias color how you think others think here.
Bill Russell won 11 championships, including 8 in a row and 10 in an 11 year span.
Where is he on your GOAT list?
Embiid is already widely considered the best center in the league and people here refuse to accept it. It's not my bias but those that run deep around here and have for years. It's why desperation threads like this continue to pop up.
Don't let a lack of objectivity induce you to dismiss opposing thought as bias.
LOL there is no desperation thread. Jokic is, once again, having an incredible postseason, having all-time great performances while Embiid just sorta been very good. Probably hampered by that injury, but it's the same thing, the injuries are just part of his game.
There's nothing to accept. Jokic was the No. 1 seed, Embiid was the No. 3 seed, even with a player who's *far* better than everyone else on the Nuggets. Embiid was incredible, had what would easily be one of the great center seasons of all time. Jokic averaged a triple double while averaging 25 points per game on 70 TRUE SHOOTING PERCENTAGE. Basically, he scored as though he were Dirk Nowitzki, except even more efficiently, while passing like some magic Johnson/Larry Bird hybrid and rebounding like a league-leader. His BPM of 13 or so is a number I don't think that's been touched by anyone besides *peak* LeBron and MJ. In an era where LeBron's been aging/injured, Jokic is the one guy who's consistently kind of proven to be the best player in a vacuum. He's never lost a series he was supposed to win, unlike Embiid, he's been to a conference finals. When Embiid didn't have his second best player, he was swept, losing by average of about 12 points per game in the first round. When Jokic didn't have his second best player, he actually won the series and got to the second round, with Austin Rivers and other fringe NBA talent playing heavy minutes. Seriously, if he had Tobias Harris and Shake Milton instead of Rivers they might have even taken two games in the second round, if not gotten to the conference finals.
idk. I really see very few objective arguments for Embiid being a better player, and most writers basically admitted they voted for him out of sympathy. Great player, clearly MVP level, but idk, he gotta show something transcendent.
