Smart shot better in the clutch this season than everyone EXCEPT Brogdon and White (of the players that played significant clutch minutes). The starting lineup should close the game, Malcolm is a good shooter but he was getting cooked defensively last night.

He is a smart guy (despite what some think), I have zero doubt there would have been improvement discussions in film session. The last plays would have been analysed and many others. The first half should have been because that’s where we really lost it.

Joe knows JB already knows he shouldn’t have left Harden and JT knows he should have started the play earlier.

The other thing we need to recognise is the other team. Philly have been playing well and toughing it out. I think we are the better team and should win the series but I don’t doubt for a second about our effort.

Credit to them for taking a couple but it’s about consistent effort and talent and I think we have more left in the tank after the last game.

Tell that to Smart, when he walked that half court like it was the 3rd quarter. Jt got the ball with around 7secs remaining. Nothing much you can do about that. Our point guard stinks period. Low bbiq!

You're talking to the wrong guy about Smart. I absolutely love him and think his bbiq is extremely high. His weaknesses are biting off more than he can chew and shooting too often when he shouldn't, both related to a high level of confidence in himself and the team.

Some people walk the ball up the court and it's a waste of time, others like Smart or other good PGs (think CP3), are watching and reading the play as they walk it up always ready to act if something opens up.

If Malcolm was remotely near Smart or White in defensive capability we wouldn't be having these discussions about whether he should be finishing because he would be finishing without doubt.

The fact he is our weakest defensive link in our top 8 shows just how strong our defensive capability is...

Lol don’t know if you’re being sarcastic or if you are truly a smart fan boy. I think you are probably a fan boy. Smart is the worst starting point guard in the league among contenders. He has a low bbiq. Very poor shooting for a guard. His handles are average at best, as well as his court vision, and passing skills. All he does is be a pesky on defense, but can’t really stop anyone one on one from scoring. He is just an energizer bunny, in the molds of a pat beverly, tony allen. He should be a 6th man at best. We won’t win it wll with him finishing games. Comparing him to cp3 is hilarious. Only comparison is that they are both losers for now. Triggered already??? Haha

If we lose game 6 at home, i don’t know how you can have confidence in them winning the next two.

Meh, you won't trigger me, everyone is welcome to an opinion.

Smart has a number of faults, in fact every player in history has a number of faults. I'm not saying Smart is up there with the best in the league by any stretch, however if you watch a sport only looking for mistakes it's all you'll see and Smart can make stupendously large mistakes. He is often so polarizing because some of the mistakes he makes are memorable. He is a gambler at times who backs himself always. Sometimes it comes off, sometimes it doesn't.

I just happen not to agree with a lot of what you've said. IMO he's an above average passer, great vision and IQ with a good handle. When you combine that with his defense and switchability he is a winning player who fits well within our team.

In any case it's quite clear you don't have an open mind when it comes to Smart, so not much point in us discussing further as we clearly disagree.

Of course you didn’t said smart = cp3, but you made it sound like he’s in that group of good point guards. You said Smart, and other good point guards. Well, that’s your opinion, so i can respect that. Me, personally, smart is just average. Not a good point guard for a contender. He’s a poor shooter, handles are average (he gets pick pocketed several times dribbling through half court), court vision may be fine, but his passing ain’t accurate. Too many bone headed plays, risky passes, and poor decision making at crunch time. He’s good defensively though, and you can’t question his heart and effort. Overall bbiq is average at best. Not really the qualities i’d want in a starting point guard. He got that position by default, when kemba didn’t pan out. Terry Rozier would have been better. At least that guy can shoot, score and backs up his cockiness on the floor.

I see it that a lot of the bone headed plays or passes are from backing himself to make the difficult play. In the case of passing, some of the best passers in the game have high turnovers rates as they're given license to go for it. I'm not saying Smart is one of the best in the game but I think he is very good. Sometimes he sees something, goes for it and the other player didn't see the same opportunity and move to the same read.....turnover. There are times he shouldn't go for it but overall I'm happy for him to keep backing himself because I think the good far outweighs the bad.

Regarding Smart Vs Rozier, it may surprise you:

The above is what happens when you fall in love with stats and become a slave to the numbers.

Yep, I'm in love with Smart's below average 3 point shooting.

Smart is one of the most unbackable players in the league when it comes to stats, especially traditional stats.

But....as you were.

SMART SEES THE DEVELOPING PLAY AS THE BALL ROLLS DOWN THE COURT ON THE FLOOR AS THE HALF COURT OFFENSE SETS UP BETTER THAN C3P

Bitching about not getting acknowledgement for his hustle player of the year award says all you need to know about the kind of player he is.

Your hyperbole on Smart is the green teamer **** Triple was talking about.

But yo, he's a wicked assassin in the half court game!!!!

When he's passing the ball that is. If he passes the ball.
