Nuggets rank 7th among the 16 playoff teams on defense, even with Booker going off on a historic shooting streak. They've been better than Philly, Boston and the Bucks on defense so far.

7 out of 16 isn't great.

Put AD next to him and it would be great.

Jimmy Butler also once again forcing people to put respect on his name, once again proving he's a top 7 player, being one of the few ball players besides prime LeBron with essentially no meaningful weaknesses.

61% TS is pretty low for Jokic. But I think he gets dinged at least 3 TS percentage points from all the tipping he does.

It seems his touch has been improving over the playoffs, in the Minny series he was missing so many shots he usually makes. Does anyone know if you there's a site that shows TS% for individual games rather than manually figuring it out because I think it's likely his TS% is improving.

His shooting hand was injured. Thats why he struggled to make shots.

Good thing he doesn't have to worry about Warriors in this Playoffs anymore.

I wouldn't say "a lot of folks," I think the great majority of fans and media respect and acknowledge Jokic. It's the loud minority at ESPN, and other media networks, that have to wipe the egg off of their face.

Jokic is a genius of a player, but his poor D as a 5 will always be his Achilles heel when it gets to the deeper rounds of the playoffs.

He's fine in the reg season, but when you're playing against elite offensive guys and your 5 can't deter them at the rim or the perimeter I don't like your chances of winning a series.

Don't let a lack of objectivity induce you to dismiss opposing thought as bias.

Its a big weakness but lets not act like it cant be mitigated by smart roster construction. Jokic needs a guy in the mold of Draymond Green or JJJnext to him. A mobile PF with good defensive instincts that knows how to protect the rim and provide help defense. You get such a guy and a point of attack defender and your defense is fine.

Denvers problem is that Gordon is nowhere near the defender people like to think he is and he provides no help defense at all. Neither does MPJ, although he did make some improvements.

Idk. He's not going to win anything this year, next year or the year after that. I wonder what Jokic's legacy will ultimately be, because he already has a reputation of being overrated. That can't be good.

Jokić is a poor rim protector, however in this matchup it has been a problem only for folk focusing particularly on Jokić to highlight plays where he did not try to contest a shot.

Defense is far more than a simple rim protection, a steal or charge taken. From what I have seen so far, Jokić has played very good ice/hedge on PNRs and Suns seldom managed to get significant scoring in the paint where Nuggets have outscored them 72 to 46 points in Game 4. Even taking Jokić out of that equation (as he scored 32 points in the paint for Denver) would leave Suns marginally better (46 to 40).

His Achilles heel will be not having another star on the team. Everyone has an All-Star running mate. Lebron has AD. KD has Booker. Embiid has Harden. And so on. Jokic has Murray. Murray can turn up his production to star levels every now and then, but he's not nearly consistent enough to be a reliable second option.

Two time mvp but he is overrated. He is only overrated by people who dont watch the nba. And how do you know he isnt going to win the next 3 years? Has Denver been eliminated? Did i miss something?

Adam Stern wrote:Not likely.
As bitter as some people are around here, Embiid could lead the 76ers to 3 straight playoff runs of 16-0 and they still wouldn't concede him as the best center let alone best player.

It has nothing to do with bitterness. What has Embiid accomplished in the playoffs? Posters in this thread crapping all over Jokic for his lack of playoff success, when he has gone deeper in the playoffs, with less talented teammates and in a tougher conference than Embiid.

So, before we start talking about Embiid not getting respect for going 16-0 in the playoffs, let's see him get to 8 wins and make it past the 2nd round. To date, the most games Embiid has won in the playoffs is 6. That's an awful long way from 16.

BTW, even in PHI gets to past the 2nd round this year. Embiid will have only led them to 6 wins at that point as he missed the Game 4 win over BRK and the Game 1 win over BOS. So, still a LONG way from 16 wins.

Yes its just the people on here who refuse to accept it. Its not like Jokic has been a 3x 1st team All NBA guy and each time has beat out Embiid. Or the fact that Jokic has 2 MVPs to Embiids 1, and that is viewed as a far more of a narrative based MVP than actual production.

But ya its just the people on here who refuse to accept Embiid as the best center...

Listen, Jokic has been great, so I'm not trying to downplay that. But Embiid has faced Ayton 8 times in his career, and averaged 36 points and 14 rebounds over that span. If Sixers were playing Phoenix and Jokic was playing Boston, it would NOT be the same. Just like Bam is a bad matchup for Randle who would surely be playing a lot better against most other teams. Matchups, matchups, matchups.

Sure but Embiid hasnt really shown he can do that in the playoffs. Hasnt he only broken 30 ppg in like 2 series in his career
