League has to hand out a suspension there.

they won't. this league is screwed up. doesn't properly enforce player safety.

they make the nba officiating actually look decent in comparison. no rhyme or reason to anything officiating does. no standards or real oversight at all

Finally showed some desire tonight. Dare I say our most complete game of the playoffs. Now that we have a goalie in net that doesnt allow tons of rebounds, maybe they can realize they dont have to outscore opponents 6-5. We can win games after only scoring 2 or 3 goals. Hopefully that means we're more balanced moving forward.

You're probably right.

But if Bunting was given 3 games for an elbow, I don't see how Bennett doesn't get at least a game for repeatedly sucker punching someone lying on the ice after the game is over.

your guess is as good as anyone else's. some people might think there's some bias against the leafs or toronto but i think they're just incompetent.

I totally hated that first period.

Once again, no space to work with in the neutral zone so we revert to a dump and chase playoff hockey that we naturally don't have the personnel to be great at.
We also can't break through the neutral zone cage with controlled possession because we've only got one D that doesn't get the yips when bringing up the puck.
And for whatever reason, NONE of our forwards can be bothered to QB plays from our deep end, like Gilmour or Sundin would do in previous iterations.
We also got away with at least two missed calls early on.
Absolute stinker of a 1stP: 6 shots on goal in 20 minutes and not a single genuine scoring opportunity. IN A DO OR DIE GAME.

So we open the 2ndP by flubbing a 4 on 1. Then came the comedy of opening the scoring on the powerplay and instead of cheering, I was absolutely furious about it.

Up to that point, we had done nothing to deserve that goal.

In fact, just seconds before it, Marner had inexplicably retreated, at full speed, back out the offensive zone, stranding the PP, simply because he spotted a defender that was moving in his general direction at the top of the zone. Got scared, and decked back out.

So by the time the puck went in, I was still fuming from that dumbass Marner play and everything that's led up to it this series. I was so **** furious that I didn't even notice or care about who had scored. I know this doesn't make any sense: the team regrouped and scored on the very next play. Alas, life as a Leaf fan. It doesn't make sense.

Between how badly we were playing and the missed tripping calls the refs overlooked in the 1stP, there was a sense the team had escaped a deserved punishment by scoring first. That was my only thought. We were 1-0 up and I was livid. It took me until the early 3rdP to calm the **** down.

I cheered again when Marner got the 2nd goal.

The Marner goal. That brought me back.

It should be said that Liljregren is a more reliable D than Gio or Holl at this point. Can't understand how Holl led all D's in ice time.

The problems with this team can all be summed up with a single succinct observation: Sam Bennett's head hasn't been physically flattened by way of the fist, after what he did to Knies. I like Keefe (I share the exact same birthday with him), but this is about coaching and organizational identity and pride (or lack thereof) as much as it is about anything else related to roster construction.
